30mm Multipose Stormtroopers & Boba Fett
November 7, 2011 by beerogre
If you're a collector or you have aspirations to play a Starwars RPG, then check out these fantastic multipose Stormtroopers from Knight Models.
For those of you who like your Star Wars with a dash of scum and villainy, then check out the new Boba Fet miniature...

They look great, especially Boba Fet. They look as good as the larger, more expensive figurines you can get. I’d rather get these so I could paint them myself and add my own details or weathering to them.
Hey, for some reason those stormtroopers remind me of space marines, but with smaller shoulder pads and armour; and the helmets are similar to terminator armour helmets, and wait a sec, come to think of it; Darth Vader’s helmet looks like space marine helmets, especially the face part of the mask. Hmm… I wonder why? 😛
Remind you of GW models. You sure? Next you’ll be saying that GW ripped off Dune, Aliens, Terminator. Intellectual property my arse.
Yes I am sure, and nope, I won’t be saying that 🙂 Just saying that aspects of them are a clear influence on the space marines armour. And now you come to mention Dune, that must have influenced the Imperium to a degree, especially in the film of it where they were wearing 18th Century style military uniforms in a sci-fi setting (like the Imperial Guard, check out the Vostroyans). And of course, The Terminator is a major influence on the Necrons, as is Ancient Egypt and the skeleton soldiers in Clash of The TItans, as in undead skeleton warriors. And Aliens (and to some degree Starship Troopers) is a clear influence on the Genestealers and the rest of the Tyranids. I’m not sure what you mean by saying “Intellectual property my arse” as I’m not saying they just copy everything, because that’d be stupid. If that was your intention, you could say they ripped off all the designers of military ware from WWI and WWII, since they too are a major influence on the Imperial Guard.
So did you mean that you think that GW doesn’t comply with intellectual property laws and that they just rip things off and stick their logos on it or something else?
I like how they weave different and interesting things together to create something that looks great and is interesting to read about, paint, and play a game with.
No one can design anything without being influenced by something else. All designers/artists/authors of fantasy/sci-fi things are all influenced by the things that they think is cool or interesting.
For instance, I’d only recently learned that author Michael Morcock’s books are an influence on the idea of GW’s Chaos, even down to the 8 point chaos star; have a look at this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symbol_of_Chaos ; Morcock had doodled the star to show someone what he thought they would look like. It doesn’t take a great deal of thought to see that someone at GW was reading his books and thought it would be cool to have a warhammer version of chaos in their games. Just as a someone may have thought it would be cool to have some design elements of the stormtroopers or terminators in there designs. In my own models, I thought it would be cool to have a catachan vet squad based on Predator. And although I’m not a company that’s selling them, there are influences of Predator in the Gunnery Sergeant Harker and his heavy bolter called Payback, influenced by Blaine’s minigun callled Old Painless.
There’s no need to get wound up about a simple statement that I always thought that those star wars costumes remind me of bits of space marine armour, and that’s it, simples 😛
I had a party in my pants when my friend sent me a link to a forum with pictures of those stormtroopers a while ago 😀
@majordutch
These are white metal miniatures, and they come unpainted, so actually, painting them yourself is a must.
Cool, if I can afford them sometime I’d love to paint armour chips etc on them. There should be a few poses of them skidding on the floor or bumping their heads on doorways, but I guess you could convert them yourself to do that and have some comedy dioramas with them 😛
Nice, I actually bought the Han Solo model a while back , just because it was there on Maelstrom’s site and it was cool.
Not painted it yet, but it’s beautifully sculpted.
Boba Fett will be in my hands too I should think.
The stormtroopers would be the painting challenge , I always think big areas of solid white the hardest things to paint effectively.
Impressive.
Try ‘Impressive…most impressive.’
Gotta love Empire Strikes Back.
waiting for my storm troopers to tuen up. will look brilliant when painted and standing behind my vader figure. absolutely brilliant models. especially since maelstrom have been doing them.
“you do not need to see my wallet, these are not the miniatures you are looking for”
Is it possible these models line up with 40K models?
they are very juicy!
WOW! I want some of those!!!
Suggesting GW have stolen other’ IP, tweaked them and made them their own IP?? Never!!! 😉 although IF they did, I might play 40k again and collect an army of Hutts!! But then, Warpath does have it’s unrevealed 8th Race- SLUG MEN FTW!!!!
As my big old rambling reply above says, everyone is influenced by pre-existing designs. Like the armour of the Colonial Marines in Aliens, which was influenced by Roman Legionnaire’s plate armour and again with the nose off the dropship which was based on an Apache gunship. No one can make something truly unique, it’ll always have some facets of something someone’s already made before.
But I’ll put an idea forward as a stab at something unique to see if any part of it has been thought of before: an alien’s gun (not from the film aliens or any other film) that’s made from alien insects, clustered and interlocked together; and is fired by psychic thought by the alien as it hovers in front of them.
OK, does anything like that exist already? I’ve noticed some influence already from Tyranids who have organic guns, damn lol. 😛
