and Vangard Obyron does not take up an HQ choice if the army also includes Nemesor Zahndrekh, so: 3 HQ!
add with the royal court, which can all split up into different units, talk about a lot of HQs
that’s a LOT of res orbs!
yeah been able to get 23 HQs in an army is always fun
old guy gives counter atack to his servant. servants kill enemy unit
smells like darrells feet to me…
Stick nemesor in a command barge, give himself stealth, setup 12″ from edge. go flat out in turn 1 then have vargard deepstrick 6″ to him with no scatter. If you stuck vargard in with immortals w/ tesla weapons…. i’ll leave u to fill in the blanks
The problem with Oberon is if you are playing for killpoints and nemesor’s unit gets assaulted by a really killy unit (20 genestealers, 12 deathcult assassins, furisoso dreadnought,…) Oberon has to join the combat possibly having the entire unit (including Oberon) cut down before they get to go netting 3 KP instead of 2.
As far as i read the ruls he would be coming in to attack the furiouoso from the rear… arm 10 v str 7 warscythe
Here is a related question to Darrell…
The Nemesor can take a Catacomb Command Barge as a Dedicated Transport… can he choose not to embark on it and join a unit (say a unit of Lychguard) when the game starts, and can I have Obyron start the game riding in said Catacomb Command Barge?
If this is possible, I’d field them this way since Obyron with his Warscythe make a great anti-vehicle hunting unit…. on his turn he just has to move 24″ over an enemy vehicle for 3 Sweep Attacks, hitting on 4+, rolling 2D6 + 7 for Armour Penetration (+8 if the Nemesor decides to give him the Tank Hunter ability). Or if you’re lucky and in range, you could move 12″ or less over the target vehicle, do you sweep attack, and see if the vehicle gets destroyed or not…. because if it’s not, you can still choose to disembark from your open-topped skimmer and then assault that vehicle during your assault phase (for another 4 Warscythe attacks). Not to mention the gun on the underside of your Catacomb Command Barge.
If the vehicle you flew over was destroyed by your sweep attack, and you flew 12″ or less, you could disembark and assault another target, possibly another vehicle, or a weak unit that could be mowed down thanks to his Cleaving Counterblow ability.
Just a thought….
@paedan I think maybe what you might want to do is keep Nemesor in the Barge. Use him to position a unit you by deep strike using from Obyron. For example: stick Obyron in a unit of 20 warriors that are enhanced with crypteks and move Nemessor and his barge up the full 12″. I might also give that big unit counter attack as well. Anyhow, now you can deep strike any where within 6″ of that barge. You effectively saved 3 turns of walking for a huge unit that hopefully will now rapid fire a unit to death. 18″ of movement (more if you consider the size of the unit or decide to hop Nemessor out the 2″) which your opponent is unable to stop to place that unit exactly where it is needed.
And even if they do assault you should be doing alright with counter attack (even if they do you can warp out of their your next movement phase). The trick is timing and placement. So things like some of the shard powers, cryptex powers and some of the other named characters powers will make this even more powerful. Also I’d keep a unit of jump infantry or jetbikes running escort duty with nemessor so if need be he can hop out and join in the fun. But again you got to do it right… you can’t throw him in the middle of your opponents army.
So basically Oberan is like Batman from arkham asylum game, enemy takes a swing and misses – Oberan counters and beats everyone to a pulp…….in short me like.
If Varguard Obyron is strength 5 and he carries a warscythe which gives you a +2 strength bonus. Then wouldn’t that make him strength 7…..
in a way it is counted like riding a bike it’s not his base strength so if you had to take a strength test u would use 5 not 7
