Dave is a genius in the true sense of the word. He has come up with a fabulous game, stunning minis and what looks like enormous scope for expansion.

Hey guys looking to get into dropzone but I want to find out a bit more on how the armies play. I’m thinking of going with the PHR or resistance but id need some advice on how the PHR are played since i’m new. Anything helpfully will be appreciated.
the resistance are a nice looking army. And you can go a bit mad max with them and that is cool. but after part 1 I am loving the UCM more
The resistance look very cool. As is the progressive story approach to the background, it will give more meaning to each battle.
What happen do Afrika? Why did the Scourge flood it.
The new miniatures look fantastic. I certainly appreciated the BoW video where Dave was kind enough to take us through his design process – that’s quite a thing for a company to show.
The thing that really sticks out for me though, is the detailed universe. Dave has really created something here that stretches far beyond a tabletop wargame. There is certainly potential for everything from fiction or RPG etc etc. Also, what a nice bloke. 😎
I would probably go for the resistance, now that we know more about them and their models. Lovely !
Resistance seem a good deal different to the “hordes of trucks” idea I’d thought they’d be. That there’s a choice of truck swarm or load up on super expensive former military equipment makes them extremely interesting.
My DZC plans are moving from “pipedream” to “planning a pre-order”.

I’ve got to congratulate the guys at Hawk for the efforts they put in to enthuse people about their game – I suspect I’ll make a resistance army with as many regular units (the Tanks, planes, APCs, helicopters) as possible as that appeals to me more than the irregular units.
Been thinking about picking up a miniature game, kind of like this one.

Basicly we started as a small group who all left another unmentioned figure game because we felt that it had gone mad about unfair tournament rules and the most boring and newly bought army always was the winner…
Therefor I just Loved this tour for the new race “the resistance” its a great amount of effort put in to it to be not just a new race but a new balanced fraction that will ad so much texture to a already brilliant game! Thank you!!
We have been trying to start a really good community around DZC for around 1 year now. So far there are 31 members on Dropzone Commander Sweden Facebook and we are growing!
We have had two tournaments so far and the first one was attending 4 players, the second one we managed to dubble for 8 players
And now we are headed for our 3:ed tournament so far in Sweden, Pew Pew Con. We hope to dubble up for this one as well and as usual sins we are trying to event these tournaments on a convention so we always dedicate the frist day out of 3 for demo this great game. We always hope to recruit new members and players for this fantastic game!
So in a favor to ask we would like to apply for this competition in hopes that we can use these starter boxes as a great demo army form all fractions!

More I see and hear of the Resistance, the more Impressed I become by just how much thought and detail is put into the designs and backround. Those hovercrafts make it too tempting…just love the image of lots of hovercrafts arriving on a beach and unloading the deadly cargo!

I don’t usually play the “ragtag” faction, because I prefer the properly militarized ones like PHR or UCM, but damn those guships looks reeeeal nice..
I do like those tanks, and the dropship is probably the best one I’ve seen oitside the great PHR ones.

I love all the details put into these minis. The Resistance are definitely my favourites faction; they’ve got all my favourite types of vehicles and look amazing. I’d have to paint names on the buses; The Gauntlet on the regular bus, and on the school bus; The Callahan. 😉

Dave dropzone commanders is a great game! I am usually a historical gammer but Dz is what i want in a SF game fast tactical and with a “credible” premiss. I have am in the mist of starting up a slow grow leauge and campaign at my club. It is centerd around the deset and mining planet Irem Secundus “adjcent” to a cradle world.
Anyway I hammered the resistance preorder HARD! My best whishes to your trip to gencon this year……not envious…….

I didn’t think there’d really be dropships for the resistance unless they were allied with other human factions. Guess I should paid more attention to the name of the game :p
i am in love with DZC, there is not one army that i dislike! i cannot wait for the space & scrim lvl games to come out of hawk in the future.
what i really want to see is a 6th faction of lizardmen that the scourge hit before mankind, i imagine them dropping kaiju into the battlefield, their super heavy could be like Godzilla.
as a PC gamer i play planetside 2 quite a bit, many of the vehicles are boring or poorly designed. when we talk about how to improve them in the reddit sub i always point to DZC as how it could be improved, for exe the lightning tank = UMC’s Saber MBT. If Hawk ever wants to expand into the PC market make a MMOFPSRTSRPG! or something like Xcom-EW.
This gets better and better, seems I found my nr 1 hobby game for the coming years. The new artwork is really great and a great inspiration to build some awesome alien battlefields!
With the plastics starters out, I can see this game picking up a lot of steam with new players… I’ll be one of ’em! 😀

Shaltari in plastic will be great. Putting the gates together in resin is such a pain. And my PHR army is gonna be getting a few more models now.
Now I’m totally sold on the Resistance after seeing how big the Drill is and knowing that the baneblade-esque looking tank is a command vehicle 🙂

I’m torn with the resistance. I love the drop ships, hovercraft and tanks. But I’m not really a fan of the busses and trucks. While the models are incredible, just not my cup o tea.

The Resistance looks awesome
The history and fluff story of the game takes a familiar story and comes at it from an interesting new perspective. It really takes a good story for me to get interested in a game, and I’m definitely much more curious about DZC now.
Plus, I haven’t had the chance to play at this scale since Adeptus Mechanicus!!

Those restistance minis look awesome. The campaign book is really gonna add some great narrative too, which has always been slightly lacking with the current generic scenarios.

I’ve been pushing my LGS to get a distributor that carries DZC just so i can get the resistance. We already have 4 people playing since June
Just a few days and i’ll have my resistance starter on Thursday at GenCon
I’ve always liked the look and idea of DZC, but have never taken the plunge due to the price and not being able to justify getting into another war game. But I’ve watched the whole of the DZC weekend and loved it. The miniatures are exquisite, the game looks really fun and tactical to play, and what has really won me over is Dave and his obvious enthusiasm for his game, models and the world he’s created. You sir, have got yourself a new customer/fan. Now to decide which race to start with!

This game is crazy. I am getting ready to buy one of each starter and the new rule book. Cause there is no one that plays this down in Petawawa Canada, actually most people dont even know of it. SoI need to get this all the factions so I can get people into it.
Right on Hawk games! I have played war games since 1994 and so far I have found this one to be the best in flow and tactics around. Your dedication to your fan base is outstanding. I love how you guys actively particapte in your forumes and bring in new units by advancing the story line.

Love this two part series.
The Resistance seems like a really cool faction. And that’s a relative term seeing as playing resistance could mean a number of things – friendly or hostile to the UCM, advanced tech or primitive. You could, theoretically, have Resistance fighting Resistance, which I think is cool.
Overall though I still like the Scourge and Sheltari. Something about the more aggressive races attracts me. I also like the idea of the Scourge being implanted into vehicles, so vehicles may have certain personalities. This makes for some very cool story arcs if there are vehicles or larger machines that the UCM and Resistance identify clearly, as stated in Part I. Players could mold stories around these vehicle characters.
Definitely looking forward to learning more about DZC and seeing Hawk Wargames at Gen Con!
I may have to try Dropzone Commander at GenCon and see if it’s for me.
I have a question – we were wondering if all the mission objectives were just to obtain objects from buildings or in the new rules will there be more complex missions?

Another great episode, fantastic preview of the Resistance. Seem to be a bit more flavorful than the other factions with the Allied vs. Feral.
I really like the Hellhog and the Cyclones, reminded me of Jigabachi from GitS. The resistance tanks are pretty nice, too. But the rest of the post apocalyptic mashup isn’t really doing it for me. Still like the looks of DZC, though. I’ll continue to keep an eye on it.

yeah some of the drawings of the UCM commanders looked straight out of C&C Generals (not in a bad way though)

I need to get my hands on each of these starter sets! luckily, now they’re in plastic i only have to sell one kidney to pay for this awesomeness! Still it’s a kidney happily sold to get such amazing miniatures for a game that has so much potential to go really far! I think Dave has made a really cool world and every faction fits perfectly into place and i particularly like the idea of humanity invading planets to reclaim their home worlds! either way I’ll never have the money for all factions, sadly I’ll have to decide which to join… not an easy task 😀
Great lore, awesome art, really cool design styles. I can’t seem to fault this, the level of effort hawk went into to create balanced rules and fantastic looking minis is really impressive, I’m sold 😀

not sure about resistance, nice and varied, maybe a little too haphazard for me. I can see the appeal thou. I do like the new book, that’s a must, is it available elsewhere other than Gencon?
I just love the back story for the resistance with its potential for diversity. All the armies in this game have a unique play style.

The art of the scourge walking in the background of the planet with all the dangerous plants really caught my eye. All those lovely colors and shapes!
It is absolutely amazing how much – for a lack of a better word – intelligence and thought went into the designing process for the resisteance and all the other factions. It’s a real pleasure to listen to Dave talk about it and you can feel his passion about this project.

Great breakdown of the whole background and races…and those Resistance minis are just stunning,(as are all the DZC stuff)……..I’ve been telling myself I’m not buying into the Resistance till I’ve caught up on my DZC painting back log…….looks like that’s gone out the window.

You have sold this game to me. The problem is you also sold Infinity to me. I think it is very naughty having such awesome content on such awesome games come out so close together!
Love the look of this game and may actually get into it now there’s plastic PHR. The cost of the resin stuff is still a little prohibitive though. £55 for a resistance starter set stings the wallet a little too hard. Miniatures look excellent though.
The hardest thing to do is to decide witch faction is the coolsest …
So since the vid was split into two does that mean everyone gets twice the chance at commenting on both vids haha. seriously love the look of the Dropzone commander models, may have to pick up the PHR set to just paint… if I can seriously hit my paint queue. as it is I had to give up on the Mantic terrain build, I don’t think I can complete what I had planned by the end of the month.

Great couple of shows!!! My gaming group have been looking for something new to take our interest over the past few weeks and Dropzone Commander has popped up a few times in discussions and this has been a great insight into what looks like an amazing game. Now all we need to do is argue over who gets to play PHR!
I like that the new book is an actual expansion and not just the same rules in a new hardcover book for a lot more money!
You still need the first rulebook, this has the experimental rules all squared away and some changes to the rules to even the gameplay.
Plus tons of background material and of course the resistance.

Awsome models I love the half tracks. Going to be sweet when I paint them all up in black and pinks and purple. But where are the resistamce girls. Come one one oit of the 5 models could be a bad arse tank girl
Please tell me this game (DZC) isn’t all about destroying buildings. Can you play on a regular ‘non-city’ board?
There are rules for non city as well.
I love the design of the resistance. For a game with majority human races the diversity in the minis is amazing and nothing feels far fetched. For everyone who hasn’t jumped in all I can say is hold off on whatever other games your buying and give dropzone a go. The 2 player starter is easily the best starter in the industry and the guys at hawk have taken out as much of the frustrating elements as they can that hobby wargaming can sometimes have. This game will revolutionize this industry and force other companies to think a lot more about what they do. All for the better. I wish hawk the best of luck and I will continue to buy ever single release for all the factions for as long as I can 🙂

My only concern is the awesome but scrapy look of the new faction clashes with what is normally very beautifully painted uniform amies of the exsisting factions.

Now i’ve seen exactly what I’m waiting for. Since I met DZC i kind of fall in love with PHR, but when I decided to jump in the video of Warren in the DZC Tournament hit youtube and with it came the first “sneek peek” in the new faction “The Resistance” since then I’m waiting for this moment, now I Finally can grab on of these amazing starter sets and raise hell with Ferals!

Really liking the Shaltari and PHR starters in plastic (especially the extra bits to build variants) and the resistance look amazing. Was on the fence about this game but now it’s something I’m definitely looking at getting into.

Man, the models keep getting better. I’m glad they’ve added more fluff to the game. And the best thing about Hawkwargames…..no corners cut. Quality in everything they do. I have so much confidence in this company!
I’m officially past ‘should I start DZC’ to ‘which faction I’ll paint first’ and ‘where I’m going to fit the terrain’.
DzC is a fantastic game. It’s fast taking up the lion’s share of my gaming and hobby time.
One suggestion for Dave – consider allowing the commander’s units to be used in tournaments, but just the model. For instance, if you could put a generic commander in that tank commanders tank, but you don’t get any of the other benefits. Commanders and their mounts are an integral part of the game, and giving more choice is going to expand the list of viable options, by removing “must haves”.
For instance, you’d be stupid to not have any units with scout in a UCM army. Which means you need to field a ferrum, a set of wolverines, or a set of snipers (which we will hopefully see on the field, now they are capped at one damage per hit – brilliant balance change)!
Anyway, I have an admission to make. I’m looking forward to this book as much for the fluff and pictures, as for the crunch…. there… I said it. This is a new and strange experience for me.

There are few games that have me equally hopping between all factions, but DZC is one of them and I love all of them. DZC armies are like Pokemon for me… gotta get em all!

I finally got the starter set a month ago. Looks like it was perfect timing! Most exciting thing in this bumper release schedule is the new book – the moving on of the storyline and the new setting / battlefield information.

I like that story behind it all. Be something to look into for my friends an I to play. Downside, I would have to buy 2 different armies just for my self. To try and get one or two other people to pick it up themselves. Thats gunna be a chore in this small, white collar town…

I haven’t gotten into this game (and that probably is a yet) but, it really seems to be getting fleshed out as a bit more than just a tournament game. I know it has a storyline and all but, with really only seeing the tournament aspect this looks to have a more story driven adventure with the heavy background I see in these episodes.

Don’t know why but with DZ on my mind recently all I can think about is using DZC games to link a narrative campaign between two gaming systems – drop ships bringing in ground forces battling over a Deadzone with DZC games the first stage which then affect DZ games as strike teams battle it out in the aftermath (or during) the larger battles. Now just to determine proxy factions!
Must paint more Dropzone Commander…
And get a full sized game in! (yeah, broken record, I know)

I might go horde on the resistance. I just love the little trucks and cars. With a bunch of helicopters thrown in for variety.
The second book looks very nice. I like the way the narrative is geared towards game scenarios and campaigns. The commanders also seem to offer a nice bit of variety and a new challenge for veteran players.

Personally I’ve now officially given in to the nagging desire for a bit of Dropzone Commander. Originally a huge fan of Epic (the reason I wargame), I resisted any idea of a similar wargame background on a similar scale. The Resistance have just pushed me over the edge – along with passion displayed by the author – this game is a must for my Christmas list (if not before, if I can sneak it in!) 😉
