They’re not really good sculpts… the loss of detail due to molds is terrible.
Still, better than the old mixed metal-plastic kit I saw before.
Definetly not a boar ing video. Really like the models, although if you dont have the ork glued on exactly right you can see the smooth dimples on the boar where the legs are supposed to sit. It is a bit annoying if you want to do different poses.
Cracking bit of kit, bit put off by the metal miniatures but guess that’s the only way of owning said figures.
Darrell, how come you don’t paint the models been reviewed? Would give them a bit more definition on camera and show their potential.
Great videos, have loved the Waargh week, spurred me to finish my goblin wolf riders and start my 40 night gobos from battle for skull pass. As a real beginner and the wrong side of 40 I really appreciate this site for the tutorials and video reviews.
This video shot the day after St.Patricks? You look a bit pale mate 😉
Good to see someone finally not putting the totally pointless spear choice on them.. I dont understand why its even an option.. The +1 str first round is already there with the choppas, and having three ranks of these to get the extra rank attack is not really a good idea.. Better off with to units of ten if you can afford it… Not talking points here…
Someone once reffered to the boar as a “Alf” replica…. Thanx for that…. I cant see one now and not think of the alien thing 😛
The title and heading, are a bit screwed up. Aren’t they?
The vid is about Orc Boar Boyz, not Savage Orc Boar Boyz.
Still, I enjoy the box set.
Bought a box of these and Mantic’s “Gore Riders” to compare. These GW boars are slightly less detailed / quality than GW’s standard, but it’s still pretty high. You get plenty of weapons and heads and variety. Mantic’s Gore Riders were a massive cluster-f*ck. I was impressed with the price but once I got them I turned into a sad panda. The Gore Riders are better material, resin, allowing for better quality/detail than plastic, and the models are impressive as pieces of art, however Mantic for reasons of what I can only assume are stupidity, have these Gore Riders barely larger than their elves. They’re tiny. They look small next to GW’s Orks, and they look the same height as a Mantic human (that has yet to be made) i.e slightly bigger than an elf. I have read that they are actually smaller than Mantic’s normal ork models. No option for hand weapons either.
I have no idea why Mantic decided to essentially make baby-Gore Riders, it’s bizzare, but I’d personally pay the extra and get GW’s Orcs which I actually think are worth the price. Better battlefield presence. I prefer the Gore Riders in terms of aesthetics, but still a pretty big let down. £2.00 is literally giving them away mind you.
Mantic Gore Rider: £2.00 each, resin – £20 for 10 retail
GW Boar Boy: £3.10 each, plastic – £15.50 for 5 retail
Great video as well.
Darrell! Thanks for another great warhammer video! as a new orc and gobbo chieftan I’m learning a lot
