Team Yankee Unboxing: T-55AM2 Panzer Kompanie
March 31, 2017 by dignity
Rolling in as part of the latest army to join the fight in Team Yankee, the East German Volksarmee; we have a Panzer Kompanie consisting of five T-55AM2 tanks for unboxing.
The T-55AM2 was kitted out with a modern fire control system, laser rangefinder and like the T-72M, additional ‘bazooka skirts’ for improved protection against anti-tank guided missiles and similar weapons.

I am building my Soviets up so that I can get some demo games going and try to get others playing. The East German Army was the one army I was most interested in when Team Yankee came out. I got a box of Bannon’s Boys to start a US army and hoped that there would be movement into the other Warsaw and NATO armies.
I think I will slowly add on the bits and pieces that make my limited Soviets into an East German unit. The T55 is an awesome piece of kit and these boxes look great but in shopping these around the price point is way too high. The resin costs way too muc,h MSRP is $75 US for a box of 5, and I would guess that if this is done in plastic then there would be a significant decrease in price.
The other aspect of this being in resin instead of plastic means that this can’t be used to make the other variants to play in the other games that are supposed to be on their way. With Vietnam and the Arab Israeli conflicts being expanded and ported to Team Yankee you would think there would have been a bit of planning ahead with the current releases and future needs.
Yes I was surprised at that as well, especially considering that PSC have a plastic T55 kit very close to release.
I wonder if TY has suffered from the recent FoW v4 release, which has used up the plastic production capacity?
looks like a nice model to make.
Ok I did find a box at a bit of a discount. @johnlyons how easy was this build? The skirts and front fenders are really fiddly. The cannon is not a good fit and I am pinning them.
Really liking the look but this isn’t an easy build and is taking a long time.
