Unboxing: Warzone – Cybertronic Machinators MK IX
April 7, 2016 by dignity
Hey guys, it's time for another Warzone unboxing from Prodos Games, as per usual the models are amazing and this time we're looking through the Machinators MK IX.
Machinators... Mac-inators? Whatever you want to call them, we love the models. The gates may be a little difficult to cut clean so be wary - however they're simple to put together and we can't wait to get them on the table!
What do you think of the Machinators?

With their shields giving them good survivability in the front arc, melee weapons that will stun the target and the Pathfinder skill (which lets them mobe through light terrain without being slowed down) they are a decent (and fairly cheap) close combat unit that can be used just as Justin said. With the addition of the Oppresseur the unit suddenly becomes an interesting counter to Rapid Deployment or Infiltration near your valuable units. It has a chance to stun each model deploying nearby (and a model that is Rapid Deploying but gets stunned in this way will have 0 action points, or 1 if the controlling player burns a resource card). On the other hand if your opponent is Infiltrating near your deployment zone and you won the initiative the Oppresseur should have no problem using it’s.. ahem.. Riot Control Device to flush them out while the rest of the squad either charges in to finish them off or peppers them with SMG fire from afar (with RoF 2 you are getting 10 shots at the surviving members of the Infiltrating squad). If you didn’t win the initiative then your opponent has a tough choice – go after his intended target and accept that the Machinators will get revenge, or try to eliminate the Machinations first which will safeguard your more valuable unit.
Of course, since the most likely target of an Infiltrating squad will be your warlord, if you position your Machinators such that one or two of them are near the Warlord they will also be able to offer him some cover before they counter attack.
Thanks, Siygess.
Just getting into this game, I’ve got the Cybertronic starter and a few other blisters. Got my first game next week! Love the look of these guys, and they look useful. And the Oppresseur looks really cool.
Also, don’t forget that there is another way these guys can help to protect your Warlord; The “Shielded” skill. This allows a friendly model within 2″ of the Warlord to suffer a hit on his / her behalf. Under most circumstances this means the death of the brave model sacrificing itself to prevent the Warlord taking a wound but with the IA granted by the shields, there is a very good chance that the Machinator will actually survive that hit.. and perhaps the next hit meant for the Warlord.. and the next..
