Once i see the mini finished I justcan say you are a really nice painter, I love what you do and this is the first miniature i have seen you paint that I don’t like… maybe is just the scheme
Well, I think the level of detail of the sculpt also enters the equation… This isn’t a proper miniature. I’ve tried to take advantage of it by using a cartoony scheme, really… But maybe I failed, in a certain measure !
I hope Romain will do something similar when MERCS 2.0 is released.
I’ve painted a MERCS miniature before on camera… The tutorial is still around on Beasts of War. I like them, and wouldn’t mind doing it again. 🙂
enjoyable tutorial
At last, the final part 🙂
This looks like a wonderful game
Very nice paint job. 🙂
Romain I have to thank you as your tutorials, this one and the others you have done over the past few years have really helped with my paint. Thanks there
I am a mere painting peasant… Romain’s the King
Nice work.
It turned out well. Still not a fan of the yellow, but it does have the leathery look to it.
Will definitly be painting the mini’s if I pick this up
Yep i enjoyed it.
Great paint job.
Thanks for a good tutorial.
Excellent
Different… but i get it.
Pulling a ticket for the lottery …
I really don’t like the bases on some of these models.
Indeed…
Dont like the colour scheme and i dont like the miniature, but nice tutorial, as always.
I completely understand that…
Thanks for the kind words, everyone ! 🙂
this is all good
After watching Myth this week it really does look a fantastic game. Dunno how I missed the KS!
i thought Romain was a bit dismissive of the quality of the model
I was. As I said, it’s very detailed for a game piece, but it makes for a poor miniature… I don’t think that’s a problem.
Winning comment here?
I couldn’t afford the kickstarter, so I’d love a chance at winning Myth bundle!
Great to see the process from start to finish!
I must say that painting it reveals all the flaws of the model. I don’t envy you that you have make a pigs ear into a purse. This may be the first time I’ll keep the model unpainted as it really is like you say Romain, a game piece. You did as good as the subject piece will allow you to. Thanks.
Thank you !
It was actually nice to have a go at it… I like a challenge ! As I usually, say, it’s much easier to paint a good figure than a badly sculpted one…
I agreewith roman. Not the best minature, but as a gamepiece its highly passable
If I end up with a copy not sure if I’d get around to painting it or not, but a great tutorial as always 🙂
blue and yellow, definately a bold colour choice
Sometimes a figure should be bright purely for recognition. Thumbs up.
Although it’s lacking the details, Roman did a pretty good job. I would have used different colours but it was interesting to see how the miniature was harmonized.
Great to see the finished product.
Nice to see it finished up, thanks Romain!
Looks great. You did a great job. Far better than I.
nice work guys
great paint job.
bundle me some myth please..
Another great themed week, the game looks awesome! Thanks guys!
awesome stuff, this game looks like a lot of fun
Roman, dont get me wrong, what made me pay for a backstage pass are your tutorials. What is really nice about them is that you do real miniatures with a real approach. I mean is not a 75mm 50 euros miniature painted by a professional guy archeiving professional results i wont never get. Seeing your tutorials about miniatures i can own and using techniques i can learn and apply & tips about colours is something i havent ever seen in commercial dvds where the guy/girl that mades it is a level i will never reach.
What i was trying to say is that Myth models arent my cup of tea. And i dont like the colour scheme but it fits perfectly the game.
It’s cute how uneasy you are saying that… But I understand completely ! 🙂
Color wheel and wow it all comes together in the end. “paint the hell out of it”
This just doesn’t work in my opinion. Romain’s style of painting using washes over a white undercoat only works well on a well sculpted and detailed miniature. With something like this Myth miniature a totally different approach would have worked far better and Romain should have spotted that.
You’re welcome to show us your work sir… I personnally doubt that another approach would have had better results (objectively… evne though this is also subjective). Only, perhaps, better technique and more time spent on the miniature.
Sorry if I camr across as having a pop at you @elromanozo I just don’t think your usual technique works for this style of miniature, but does work very nicely on others. It’s all a matter of taste of course, but I would have painted it with solid colours, rather than washes, and gone for a cleaner, more cartoon like finish.
I’m always happy to show my work and I have done several times on BoW. Here’s one I made earlier, as they say, using the kind of technique that I think would have produced better results on this particular miniature;

Lovely work… much darker. Still, that miniature is quite a bit more detailed than what I had to work with ! 🙂
I would obtain that sort of result as well through pre-shading and glazes, but you know me…
No disrespect to the mini, which is a nice game piece, but I think a “pre-painted” approach would have been the best thing for it: break out the Humbrol enamels, and slap some basic colours on it.
To each his own… I personnally hate the flat plastered look. Also, it wouldn’t have made much of a tutorial… I was asked to make it look more like a miniature, really.
How is it that I keep missing the best Kickstarters?
Nice work as always!
I love your painting style Romain
That hair bugs me
A nice paint job at the end I don’t understand the complaints about the colours dark brown & light brown are the main colours natural leather comes in. a nice 360% at the end to see all the detailing thanks.
Not really feeling it…
The color scheme seems appropriate for the cartoony feel of Myth. For some reason this fig brings the cell-shaded style of Borderlands to mind.
Great looking paint job.
I love Myth!
Commenting for greater justice o/
gotta love that banana haircut on the soldier.
The Vapors
I think so

Ah. Insert elegant response.
I really want to win this 🙂
I copied your tips and painted my Soldier the same way, almost. I didn’t have a few of the colours but I have to say, I am really happy with the results. Thanks so much for the tutorial!
Nice painting. But why this hair colour ???
Whim.
Well, colour harmony as well. But I could have chosen blue-black or many other colours that would have been in harmony. So… yeah. Whim. A lot of people think it’s pretty, and it fits the “anime” nature of that character and that game.
I don’t know… I think it works. But you do what you want… I’m not forcing you to paint it that way, god forbid… lol.
Finally got to watch this last part. In the end, it turned out better that I expected, considering the sculpt.
Can’t say I like the color scheme, but the leather on the pants is bloody brilliant. Will be using that.
great job. in honor of that I might paint my warrior same way 😀 well that’s if I get the game :).
Excellent quality for a board game piece.
