I hereby toss my hat in the ring for the win! GIB PRIZES! 😉
Dont you think you’ve won enough? :p
To have is better then to need! 😉
it’s not GW … you’re not getting it 😉
BUT MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
You are the reason why I never win anything, lol
Humbug!
Its true, lol
This is going to be a good week 🙂
Me To
Can’t wait to watch it, still sadly at school
I’m really looking forward to this game. I’ve just skimmed some of the rules for building your team, but Joseph’s rules really click with me. Fun and flexibility over minute details is fine by me.
As with frostgrave, nice and tight rule set. Lots of fun to be had in team creation and the fast combat resolution (once you get it down).
Really interesting battle report
Liking the KOTOR name references
*innocent look* my ship is the sable kestrel
Never got to play Frostgrave.
It always sounded cool.
But now I see Stargrave I’m really looking forward to get into it. Looks very interesting.
Never played Frostgrave, but being a Sci-Fi fan Stargrave is more my kind of game.
I shall also toss in my hat!
Those building look like the ones in Mass Effect. Where did you get them from @avernos?
full break down later in the week but the buildings were from Antenocities workshop, OOP now I’m afraid but I think there is someone else making very similar hex shaped buildings. I’ll find out which and put it below
Sarissa do a range of similar (in fact I thought they were the ones in the game)…
https://sarissa-precision.com/collections/system-sci-fi-28mm
Hmmm, Antenocities Workshop is having a big sale (25-50% off), i wouldn’t have seen it without this comment, so thanks you two
oh I just found them buried in there https://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/?s=forward+base&post_type=product
Thanks. I do like the look, but more expensive than I hoped.
I’ll have to think about it.
Really wanting a game of this.
Nice to see how everyone has a ranged weapon does change the tactics from frostgrave
I am really looking forward to getting into this!
very interesting game I learned a lot more.
I still have a robot dog somewhere should I use it as a normal dog or as a robot dog or can I use it as both?
????
there are dogs, there are robots, my answer would be both, just let your opponent know
The Mask-and-Beard combo always look slightly ludicrous (I say, as another one rocking it). Almost to the point where I want to create a SG mook with it…
looking forward to seeing how this plays!
Great looking table! I’m very glad to see “Let’s Play” back in action. Good job, guys.
Stargrave, Core Space, (or any skirmish game), Justin’s main tactic is always seemingly to have a sniper up high dominating the battlefield. I wonder what mechanics/powers/equipment are available to counter this?
We had similar problems in Frostgrave with Archers doing the same thing. There were a few spells (like “Wall”) that could be used to block their LoS, but it wasn’t until 2nd Edition of the rules that limited the number of Archers/Marksmen you could have before it stopped being the main tactic (the other way was to set up an extremely dense terrain on the table table with NO second story buildings/platforms).
Just twat it with a grenade launcher.
I’d house rule no more than one sniper or grenade launcher per crew initially, if it isn’t already
I think they are classed as specialists and are limited … would have to read to rules to know details.
BTW As NorthStar usually have Bobby Jackson sculpt minis of the artwork in the books previously (for Frostgrave and RoSD), I can’t wait to see what he comes up with for the “Pilot” artwork used in the image with the “Rule Book & Miniature Sets Available Now” banner.
He’s already done an excellent job of the Alien Bounty Hunter from the artwork (it was a metal figure given away as part of the NickStarter for Stargrave). He usually nails getting the artwork out in miniatures form (which is one of the reasons why I LOVE the Northstar metals for the “….grave games” (much prefer them to the plastics)
Great video guys. It would be nice to get some close up shots on your crews.
A great lets play, but remember its day-ta not dah-ta. Just ask Jean Luc 😉
Still watching the play through but so far the best moment is Gerry bribing Justin’s sniper. Epic!
An enjoyable Let’s Play!. Like the familiar feel to Frostgrave, but as mentioned in the intro video yesterday, putting a ranged weapon in everyone’s hands makes it play very differently. I’ve gotten into Zone Raiders over the past year which scratches a similar itch, but takes a different approach to crew construction. Will most likely pick up the rules and try to get it on the table.
Nice showcase of the rules. Definitely seems to need a good amount of scatter terrain across the table.
Got to get me a Void Blade just so I can make suitable sound effects when using it 🙂
Lovely table, where are the buildings with the removable roofs from please
There’s a link to the buildings on page one of comments. Avernos provided it.
Really enjoyed that. Gerry had some dance moves for a hot second there.
a great active game guys.
Cool video! It’s jsut a bit of a shame we can’t see the figures for good…
it really reminds me infinity
interesting game. The luck seemed to ebb and flow from one to the other during that battle.
if I win the prize I would like a copy of the Greatest movie ever made.
Games looking really good.
I feel bad for the guy who shot into combat and killed his dog.
Got my rulebook, got minis, got terrain….now to find someone to play against
Great looking table and figures…another win for On Table Top gaming. I just started into Frostgrave and now interested in this system I think I can use some existing SW Minis rom way back in the 90s. Again, great show!
The rules seem simple enough. The only hurdle is to remember all your gear and bonuses. Looks fun and fast though.
I’m thinking my Star Wars legion models could work nicely for this ruleset
That was fun. The advantage of rapid fire seems really clear. I will definitely look at getting someone with that rule into my crew as soon as I get some cash to upgrade.
Is that a battery issue with Gerry’s mic?
I’m curious to hear if there will be a solo mode.
Can grenade launchers and grenades use smoke?
yep
This looks awesome can’t wait to have ago 🙂
I fancy a chance at winning something, though I have some models on my way in any case 🙂
What’s next in this series I wonder.
Horror Grave ? … bands of survivors scavenging for supplies in a city overrun with undead …
A Cowboy themed sequel ?
Cold Grave ? … teams of agents trying to uncover secret information in Berlin ?
@avernos rocking the Pearl Jam face mask I see 😉
I have a selection of them, best investment from the merch store I’ve made certainly got the use out of them
Great playthrough.
Love these Let’s Plays. They act as a visual aid to supplement the reading of the rules. Thanks guys. Great to see the game actually in action. What about something on how the crews are created.
don’t mind me, just casting my line phishing from prizes
Looks fun Vs, but hows the single player experience? Hows the single player mission and campaign experinces?
Never did get Frostgrave but I am seeing a number of similarities to Rangers of Shadowdeep so it definitely feels like a McCullough game.
Starting to get my interest.
Seems to flow pretty well. I’d like to give it a shot
Time to return to the sci-fi terrain project I started ages ago…
It was so good to see a Let’s Play again and what an excellent game to start it off with.
A non comprehensive list of Gerrys crew (and wot I think they are based on)
Thrawn – star wars admiral
Canderous – Canderous ordo from knights of the old republic
Trask – either the star wars planet Or bolivar Trask from Marvel
Squidly – He’s a squid…
Not Han Solo – a character based on the Italian singer and actor Bobby Solo
Revan – Darth Revan from knights of the old republic
Voss – race of aliens from star wars
ZALMAR? – haven’t a clue
Trask – Amos Trask Rift War books
Damn, so close
Loving the first game, looking forward to more .. always.. more!
Really enjoying the flow of the game and how it keeps both sides involved throughout
Getting really into Stargrave as an idea.
Haven’t built anything for it yet, no time yet and not sure what to build as yet..
Digging the Stargrave content!
Is this a video of the Mid Ulster Cognate of serial killers?
What a real video and getting the feel of the game
Looks like a great game experience and I love watching Gerry and Justin play against each other as there is a definite edge that is suggestive of a deep seated need to beat one another. Just as it should be – nobody should be happy to lose.
I’m somewhat disappointed that the interstitials refer to Rounds – I though they were “goes”.
Gonna watch this later, but need to get my comment in. Been wanting this game for a while.
Great thematic scenery there! Congrats!
I’ve managed to play a couple of small games so far and I’m really enjoyed playing them.
Enjoying this. I’d settled on what models (what I had knocking around plus whatever’s cool out there) and now I’m forming a picture of how I want them to fight. Nice one!
Great Let’s Play
Fun little lets play. Interesting that Justin only used a single power in the game.
Stargrave week is a great idea.
Great play through. It cleared up some questions I had about the game.
Sweet prizes!
Another fun game created by Joe. Awesome work!
Just enough twists on the Frostgrave rules to suit the Sci-Fi setting. I’m liking the look of this.
Looking forward to playing both PvP and solo.
Thanks for the Lets PLay guys. always nice to see them.
Loving all the stargrave content this week….don’t let Sundancer win.LOL
I need to find the time to finish watching this… Looking great so far, though!
Anyone who has played Frostgrave or Rangers of Shadow Deep should find Stargrave a doddle to pick up, although there do seem to be a couple of things that could trip you up if you don’t pick up on the differences straight away.
Apart from lacking the much-needed index (sadly something many games these days seem to neglect) and possibly a cheat/quick reference sheet, the rulebook looks mighty nice. I suspect the fans will be creating all sorts of helpful stuff and new campaigns/scenarios PDQ… assuming they haven’t already!
The game plays nicely. I think there is a lot of potential in the game.
But somehow it feels very similar to Infinity. Maybe it’s the case because I’m so invested in Infinity. Who knows?
Easy to houserule and probably not a major problem, but from my reading of the rules, I don’t believe you can choose to let the other player go first when you win initiative. If you role higher you simply go first. I’m guessing in most situation apart maybe the first turn it’s better to go first anyway. The only real potential problem I see is in games with more than two players.
It looks like a game that is easy to get the hang of, although it probably helps that you guys play Frostgrave as well? Very much liking the pacing of the game: the rules sound complex enough to be interesting and easy enough to stay in the flow of the unfolding narrative!
I enjoyed the part where Gerry told his opponent that ‘the mental strain was too much for you’. Sick burn. 😉
love the void blade.
in for the win im liking
Great game guys.
I think Justin forgot just how strong apes are
“This film will be followed by a public safety broadcast about the dangers of Space Hepatitis. Remember Hands, Space and OH MY GOD WHATS ON YOUR FACE!”
Nice run through of the rules.
It would be good to see more of the wandering monsters. Maybe other scenarios will generate more.
Wow, stargrave looks really interesting! Haven’t played Frostgrave before, but I’m gonna look into that as well now for sure.
The rules seem to be pretty straightforward!
This was exciting!
Looking forward to giving StarGrave a try.
Great show. Justin will have to bring a cyborg dog next game.
Figures ordered but another box is always good.
I love the mercy box. I would also like to join in trying to win
Let’s play some more!
I really like that wargaming mat. Does anyone know who makes it?
Please don’t convince me to start my 5th Wargame in the past year 🙁
If anyone wants any Stargrave pdfs they are available at Osprey Publishing website… for free.
Crew creation, power cards, templates, quick reference and a Solo rules guide.
https://ospreypublishing.com/gaming-resources-frostgrave
I know the link says Frostgrave… just scroll down the list a bit.
Love that gerrys guys have loads of character and wicked names.
Nothing beats learning the rules (somewhat) than watching a playthrough
Prizes 😀
Rules seem good, i might use Infinity models for this, I like Infinity but can’t be arsed with the rules
Excellent game, nice to see lots of action
This battlereport rox!
Always good to see a play through of a game and how it can work in practice.
This is a nice Let’s play
Learning to play is good 🙂
I’m looking forward to getting into this once my local club emerges from lockdown. A few friends are gonna be playing it too so I should get some fun games in.
I really look forward to Stargrave
That was interesting
I just love this game!
It was epic!
Such a great opportunity to bring in all of the learnings from Frostrgrave and improve upon them for this game. Also the added minor tweaks from the sci-fi setting that add just a bit more complexity give it more depth. Very excited to try it.
Does anyone know if the alien heads scale with Legion minis? Seems like they’d be too small compared to Legion scale.
An interesting game, for sure
These are helpful to understand the system 🙂
Enjoyed that. Great system, very easy to learn and pick up.
This was an exciting game
Lots of nice mechanic in the game, like bribing someone on the other team!
Thanks for the vid!
Impressive game
A great intro guys, seems like it feels like Frostgrave in space, rolls certainly seem to work the same.
