Bulk Out Your Bavarian Infantry With Victrix’s New Plastic Kit
December 7, 2021 by brennon
When diving into your Napoleonic warfare on the tabletop you're gonna need a lot of troops. So, Victrix has put together a new set of Bavarian Infantry (fifty-eight in fact!) which can be used for the period of 1809 through to 1815.
Bavarian Line Infantry 1809-1815 // Victrix
The kit has been designed to match the more French style of kit that they adopted in 1809. There are thirty-six marching figures in the set, sixteen firing figures, four command options and two mounted colonels.

This means that you can put together a force that is on the march during your games and then swap them out for a firing line when the combat starts. I like the idea of that representing the way your regiment is engaging with the battle rather than just using tokens.

As mentioned, this set also comes with a selection of command units that can be used to lead the way for your Bavarians. A solid option for those building a little vignette for your Napoleonic armies.

Fifty-eight miniatures in nice, detailed plastic for a reasonable price; neat! I'm sure this could form a good backbone for those diving into the Napoleonic era and looking to start out. You could certainly make use of these in smaller-scale skirmish games too if you prefer thanks to the firing options.
What do you make of the new Bavarians?

Those are sweet as. Getting the mounted officer is a nice touch
Fluff up your plumage and get your Bavarian on
I’ll certainly be picking up a least a bag of these. Great to see some of the Confederation of the Rhine making it into plastic for the Napoleonic period.
Pleasantly surprised by the price too at only £30, I was expecting it to be higher like some of their newer kits (£38 for the normans).
These will make an excellent “army in a bag” purchase for anyone interested in skirmish games such as sharp practice / muskets and tomahawks etc. the mix of marching and firing is a nice change giving you the option to create the skirmishers as well as line troops out of a single kit, while you have all the command options you could need. The mounted office is a particularly nice touch and something they started doing with the Austrians.
For those looking at larger scale Napoleonic’s, I’m sure these will be a welcome addition to the likes of Black Powder providing excellent value as has been the case from previous victrix kits.
Hopefully we will see some more of these smaller nations make it into plastic in the future, all around a great release from Victrix.
Ooh nice troops to game with.
