Dead Man’s Hand 28mm US Cavalry Plastic Set Now Available
January 16, 2026 by brennon
Great Escape Games has now made their 28mm plastic set for the US Cavalry/Buffalo Soldiers available for you to pick up on their website after the successful Kickstarter campaign.
US Cavalry Unpainted // Dead Man's Hand
The set comes with enough components for you to make ten members of the US Cavalry that you can then use in a mixture of Wild West wargames but, of course, Dead Man's Hand would be a perfect starting point for those wanting to do a bit of frontier skirmishing.
US Cavalry Painted // Dead Man's Hand
The set comes with a variety of weapons for you to arm the members of the US Cavalry, resplendent in their blue and yellow. You have rifles, shotguns, revolvers and cavalry sabres for you to use when taking on your foes, whoever they might be.
You also have the head options allowing you to make Native American allies as scouts but also the Buffalo Soldiers themselves if you like. There is also a lovely beagle to go with the bugle if you're seeking an animal companion for your leader.
US Cavalry Sprue // Dead Man's Hand
The set has just hit the Great Escape Games website, so if you missed out on the Kickstarter, this is your perfect opportunity to snag the miniatures and use them to make your next gang in Dead Man's Hand.
You could also mix and match the components from this set with the rest of the Gunfighters from Dead Man's Hand if you wanted to show US Cavalry soldiers who have tried to ditch the uniform and make a run for it. Or, enterprising outlaws who have snaffled some US Cavalry gear!
What do you make of the newest plastic set?

Buffalo Soldier, dreadlock Rasta
There was a Buffalo Soldier
In the heart of America
Stolen from Africa, brought to America
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival
I mean it, when I analyze the stench
To me, it makes a lot of sense
How the dreadlock Rasta was the Buffalo Soldier
And he was taken from Africa, brought to America
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival
Said he was a Buffalo Soldier, dreadlock Rasta
Buffalo Soldier, in the heart of America
If you know your history
Then you would know where you coming from
Then you wouldn’t have to ask me
Who the heck do I think I am
– Bob Marley
Hmmmm…I’m trying to imagine you singing this in a combined Rasta-Canadian accent…
Just add the occasional “eh” and “you hoser” in there, mon. 😂
I would buy that just for the beagle. I love beagles
