“Boot Camp” Style Starter Sets Coming To Flames Of War & World War III
February 18, 2026 by brennon
Battlefront Miniatures are making it easier for you to get into their 15mm scale Historical games with a set of "Boot Camp" style Starter Sets for the likes of Flames of War and World War III. These will be available wherever you buy miniatures from May 2026.
Blitzkrieg Starter Set // Flames of War
Each of the sets has been designed to provide a straightforward entry point into one of Battlefront's games. The Starter Sets, like Blitzkrieg (above) and Fury (below), will teach you how to move and fight with your miniatures before you're thrown into bigger armies with more miniatures on either side.
Fury Starter Set // Flames of War
Each set comes with a range of plastic tanks, dice, your unit cards, cardboard terrain and a downloadable rulebook that comes in three different languages. I quite like this as an entry point to one of the Battlefront games, as it's (hopefully) not going to be a massive investment for a first timer.
As well as the Early War and the Late War range above, you can also get the Fulda Gap Starter Set for those interested in World War III: Team Yankee.

If you're interested in trying out the Cold War set, this one comes with two M1A1 Abrams and three T-80s. A new game and a new set of miniatures can be quite daunting. So, breaking the game down to the very basics and introducing new players like this is a great way to go.
This won't be for everyone and a lot of veterans are probably going to go for the larger boxed sets but for someone just wanting to dip their toe into the waters of a new game, this could be what swings it for someone. I know John would love some infantry...
Could you see yourself being drawn to one of these "Boot Camp" Starter Sets?

if only they had gone for Leopards instead of them Americans 😉
Agreed – Canada was on the southern end of this theoretical fight, Leopard 1 vs T-64 or T -72.
‘Merica! Pfffft.
I didn’t even know West Germany had units in Fulda. I thought it was just 11th ACR backed up by 3rd AD
Wouldn’t take to much notice of the names BF use , as the EW Poles are the book called Barbarossa !!!
Shouldn’t Fury be Easy-8s vs Tigers 🙂
Useful for other games which don’t use many tanks , as you get the kits for a lot cheaper that a 5 tank box set from BF .
Those Mk VI light tanks don’t look right, not sure what it is perhaps something to do with the turret?
…or is it just me 🙁
Still the fact they don’t come with even the basic rules in hard copy is probably going to scare off new players to the game (I can see these appearing on Waterstones/Barnes and Noble shelves. I LOATH all things .PDF, “Hard Copy for life” 😀
So pretty much the same same introductory sets they had around 10 years ago. The are fine if you want a few models, but are the most basic entry point that barely have anything to do with the main games.
But that’s the whole point of those kind of sets? Get them in, get them hooked and then sell them more stuff?
