Embrace the Golden Age of Piracy with a new Faction set from the folks at Firelock Games for their Historical wargame, Blood & Plunder. This could be a great starting point for someone seeking to plunder the Caribbean.

Pirate Commander // Firelock Games

Leading the way, we have the Pirate Commander. A charismatic resin leader figure for you to use when trying to take an enemy ship or raid a port. This fellow represents one of those fearsome swashbucklers with a cutlass in one hand and a pistol in the other. He has another at the ready on his belt and the expression of someone who doesn't take any nonsense from anyone!

If you're going to run a pirate crew, then you need some Pirates. Thankfully, this set does a lot of the heavy lifting.

This set contains four resin miniatures representing your classic pirate crew. As Firelock Games states, these pirates were generally just normal sailors but with a mercenary attitude, eager to make more than the meagre pay they were on when serving their nation. They lacked any real combat experience or expertise but they could be seriously intimidating when armed with a pistol and a bad attitude brought on by lack or rum (or too much rum).

Sticking with fearsome abandon, we have the Roundsmen.

This comes with another four resin miniatures representing more veteran members of your pirate crew. Building up experience by serving in the Red Sea and on the Pirate Round route, these brigands were used to getting what they wanted through grit, determination and brutality. They would have been used to the roar of the guns, the smell of the powder and the stink of blood after a boarding action.

The new range of Golden Age Pirates also comes with some upgraded individuals to hire as part of your crew. For example, you have the Pirate Weapon Upgrade set.

This set swaps pistols for a mixture of longer-range guns that could be used to pick off your enemies. I doubt that they'd have been particularly useful and I reckon these fellows will end up resorting to their cutlasses sooner rather than later.

You also have the Pirates Buccaneer Guns Upgrade.

The brace of pistols here has been replaced with some more long-range firepower, with a focus on the buccaneer guns. Again, all of these miniatures are available in resin and give you new ways for you to expand and upgrade your pirate crew in games of Blood & Plunder.
