Guild Ball Week: Faction Guide – Fisherman’s Guild
April 25, 2017 by dignity
We take a look at the Guild Ball team that have little interest in fighting but focuses instead on scoring goals. So much so that the mascots get involved, it's the Fisherman's Guild!
Watch Guild Ball Week
If you've seen our Guild chat about the Butcher's Guild you'll know that these two teams are the polar opposite to one another in terms of playing style but as you will discover are tied by blood.
We also take a look at the "best model in the game". Can you guess who or what it will be?
Prizes To Be Won
During this week you could win One of Three Copies of the Guild Ball Kick Off! Starter Set as seen in our Kick Off! Demo Game.
All you’re going to need to do is comment on the videos this week across Facebook, YouTube and Beasts Of War to be in with a chance of winning this fantastic prize.

These are the boys (and girls)
These guys have got me hooked on your videos
another great looking guild … i fear one day i’ll end up with all of them … or at least most of them.
It’s the best way to go, real should get my fish on the table
Looks like a nice bunch to paint! Great style in GB so far.
I really enjoy agile teams, so this seems really interesting.
Salt is very cool.
Hmmm not sure whether these ones are for me butbiblove the scupts
My main team and the current best team at playing the pure scoring game.
Very enjoyable team to paint as well since you can play around with many ethnic skintones to reflect the different cultures represented in the team, Nordic for Shark, Afro-Caribbean for Corsair, Japanese or Sakana etc.
Painting Krakan up as a Maori with full tattoos was fun and challenging
Fisherman’s Guild is my first team. I do enjoy the Brewers for a bit of a contrast, but I love my Fish.
Still working on my lineup. So far I’ve had more luck with Tentacles in the middle tying people up than with Salt running around. Salt just feels like a weaker Angel to me.
My next purchase is Sakana, though. Need a nice flexible piece in there.
These
Fishermen: I imagine strong in defense, tackling, Blocking and with aoe snares and debuffs to speed
Brewers might have their fancy tartans but fishermen have the coolest tattoos
Sounds like they’re as slippery as their fresh catch…
An opponent would be wanting to lock down the ball for sure.
Not fair we did not see Angel’s mini. From the Artwork, she appears to be one of the coolest characters so far.
Not counting Scum that is. Psychotic ginger tomcats always rule
Love the aesthetics of the Fisherman’s Guild.
Shark looks really cool.
I was hoping to see the mini for Angel as well, these look like they could be my second faction … I am very much like the agile goal scoring approach. its why I played Skaven in Bloodbowl.
Go Team Sushi!
Great looking Guild. I’ll probably end up owning if just to paint them.
They look great!
My second team, fun to play. They are a finesse team though, so harder difficulty for a starter team.
The asthestic of this game is just fantastic. Probably as much much as anything I’ve seen it’s a game that makes me want to get more and more of the factions. Not just one or two.
This would also seem like a good game for BoW to start a tactic series for. Something like the drofleet one, showing of one or two models and the synergies of their special rules.
I´d like to play the Fisherman, but first I should finish my Brewers and Hunters
Tricky team to play against, big respect to the Fisherman Guild.
Fisherman, the actual football team that got lost and turned up to a Guild Ball game.
Still tempted by both the Butchers and the Fishermen! I also have to wait to see the rest of the guilds, might find another or two 😉
Really enjoyed that and will definitely be taking a closer look at the Fishermen since all that speed does sound like such fun and Greyscales seems like a legend.
This guild’s abilities are rather interesting
I’d play this for the otter alone. But they sound pretty cool overall. And I like the style of the models. This could well be my team.
This would be my pick for a guild I’d say.
I already liked them when I saw them in the Kickstarter so I think this will be my faction.
fish people
Not the same game but I just played the last Dreadball season with a “good-at-sports” faction. They’re fun-ish but lacking something. I guess I can’t play these sorts of games without wanting to hurt something.
No only are they fast they have great synergy. Wait til you see Hag, an old sea witch that give the team even more movement tricks.
Ah the Fishermen…….. %^^%%%…. bloody dancey-prancey all over the pitch……..I don’t like them ….. they remind me of elves (blerghh) …….*Note* This opinion has nothing to with my 1-3 Win-Loss record against them nor is their any truth in the rumour that i have just bought a box of Fishermen and are breathlessly awaiting their arrival …… honest ……Would I prevaricate?
you had me at otter…. i simply adore otters.
I’ve used the fish models for so many other games, Frostgrave being one. Sakana makes a brilliant mage/captain, but he rolls absolutely awfully.
When I was going by the names of the guilds, I really wasn’t expecting to have any interest in fishermen. I was wrong, I really want to play these guys now.
Ok is there a faction I do not want now? I should stop watching, but this sounds so fun. I wish my copy would hurry up and get here.
Not convinced I need another game but like a fool I have watched this vid.
At least it’s a game where you won’t need a ton of models! (Until you start collecting Union to supplement them…)
Is it deliberate that the Fisherman are such slippery little suckers?
I dig em. The finesse style could be really fun.
Otterly amazing. Got to love the otter. The @dignity style otter is the one cracking nuts on rocks.
Fishermen are such characterful models, looking forward to painting mine (after my Brewers, SW:A kill teams, BA army…)
Definitely the guild for me. Octopus, actual visible otter and the ability to say “release the Kraken”
It’s true about Guild Ball that you can easily switch factions and it’s not unbearably expensive. Also when you get a new team each model is different and has character, no rank and file to paint, which is what I’d dread most if I were to change factions in a game like Warmachine (I do have a Hordes faction also but only one of each) or Warhammer 40k.
This team just looks like fun.
And finally the guild my eldest took (the more boardgame inclined). This is one of the few war games she gets into and this guild is solely responsible for it. Such a fast paced, nimble guild to deal with.
OK these guys definitely tickle my fancy! Scoring goals has a lot of appeal
Greyscales – Now there’s an old bastard slippery as an eel!!!
sounds too good to be true ……a cute otter in the team
Fish will be my third team I get into, great minis and I like that they are football focussed
OTTER!!
My buddy plays Fishermen and I’m impressed with how many tricks and scoring opportunities they have… and then the idea of taking a more beat-stick team with Corsairs … very cool… I also love their imagery and sculpts!
They sound like they play much like fish, slippery fellas
Studio painted fishermen look amazing…
Fishermen and Mason’s are the teams I’ve owned since the KS. I’ve never used the fish 🙁 Of course, I’m a disgrace and have only played one game!)
I love the character of these guys!
Interesting, but not really ‘hooking’ me like the other teams so far… will have to see what happens 🙂
It is a draw of the 2 teams today. But I guess a slight advantage to these Fishermen as of Angel
I absolutely love that fishnet cloak!!! But then all the models have some really cool details.
Cool team!
I love the speed and style of this faction; fits in with my normal gameplay as well. Shark has some amazing talents; a great leader.
Cool
as models this apeals to me most.
Wow, another great looking set.
Love Salt.
Think I am hooked by this one.
So the team plays football and the otter plays rugby?
Interesting concept of teamplay this guild has, tricky but a playstyle I like.
Great game!
They are sooo fast
i love these miniatures
How can you resist a goal scoring otter even if they don’t eat nuts lol
There’s certainly something about them that speaks to me. The rag tag equipment, the really nice blue-green tint in the illustrations, the whole Siren / sea witch theme (the mysterious connection to Mist is very nice).
Why ever fisherfolk and seamen ought to be exceptionable nimble, fast-paced and squishy is pretty much beyond me. XD
Cool faction
As a regular butchers player, I should probably switch to the fish one day to see how the other half live.
The Fishermen actually seem pretty interesting and once again I just love how each guild has its own play style and each can give you such a vast difference in game experience. I am really facinnated to see a full game now.
I didn’t like this team before based off looks, bu this is worth checking out.
The Fisherman’s Guild do look really impressive, i like the “Salt and Tentacles”. If i could just buy the animal`s as a set i would do, each one adds character to the guild it is with.
If i was to look at having a second team, it would be the Fisherman………..who would`t want a cute little otter on there side.
like this guild too
Interesting playstyle. this is more my style. But its not my favorit faction miniature wise
Fish look awesome. Love the otter
Some fishy about them…………. better stick to the meat and two veg
the octopus does sound like a neat little mechanic.
fishermands fiend is akll i like not fishmens nor deep ones, nor this guild, hahaha just joking lovely ones
Lovely models – really torn between which faction to go for!
