Gargantuans Break Down: Circle Orboros
March 27, 2013 by dignity
It's day two of our Hordes Gargantuans week and myself, Mike and Kev move on to the Circle Orboros faction in the new book. This is shaping up to be my favourite section of the book, with gigantic Constructs and fantastic looking multi wound infantry.
What do you guys think. Is this the best section, or are you still hanging on to see what our thoughts are for your own faction of Hordes?
And don't forget guys, commenting on any of the videos for the Gargantuans Week will get you entered in to the draw for the fantastic Woldwrath!!!

I’m a Warmachine player but I do have some Trolls and now I’m tempted to get into Circle.
I would love to have this model, please.
cavalry are considered to be trooper models, so they can be brought back
treehugging hippies. thats what they are.
Nice video, good break down and some nice synergy tips!:)
Another great video
Morvahna is such an impressive looking mini. I know I’ll get beat down by her from my circle friend.
I know some people dislike this model, but I think it is very fitting for the CO to have this hulk of a Woldwraith. I actually love this one and the Troll Gargantuan the most as it displays a lot of motion with weight behind it. I mean, Would you like to try and stop those stone fists? 😛
i don’t realy play this game but its a good vid guys. might be tempted to try.
Great video as always.
great vids guys, reminded me why i love the circle!!
I am playing circle, gonna get the book and morvana, me want, me want……
Loving the new circle, about to cancel eKaya top up order with total war gamer as been waiting over a month to put the money into this book and awesome warlock model.
Oh goodie! More brokeness to look forward to (not) facing at club. 😉
Gotta get Morvanna
Like the Circle. The Gargantuan looked a bit like a ‘mech to me at first, but I’m warming up to it. 🙂
They missed wolf riders having prey as well. As someone said above the wolf riders count as troopers so their next on my list to buy… shes already bought.
The rule for morvanna might make me join hordes and to had to my menoth
It’s awesome to find a good video for the evening! Thanks guys.
New circle warlock is truly amazing with all those abilities and spells that she has. So far I am not warming up to Voidwrath as I am not big fan of constructs even if it is rather good.
Definitely makes me think of getting into Circle, plus love the models.
I’ve been tempted to pick up Circle for a while but I much prefer the Wold models over the wolves and I don’t think you can really get a reasonable list out of them quite yet.
However, Convergence might get in the way first :/
As mentioned before, Gargantuans has made me a very happy werewolf jockey. Morvhana is just too good a model (and unit) to pass up. I decided to jump into Hordes before we really knew what was coming, and I chose Circle just because I like the look of them (almost all of them). I’m quite happy that what I like about them has only gotten better with this set of releases. Can’t wait to see the new satyr model.
another great vid guys
I must confess to having no idea about warmachine or hordes, so the discussion went over my head a bit, although the way the various abilities can be used in game sound quite cool and were discussed in a way that even I could get the general idea.
I’ve been contemplating buying the everblight gargantuan dragony thing when it comes out simply because its such a fantastic painting project, but I do like some of the werewolfy type soldiers the circle have, they make great models themselves.
Well the cool part about warmahordes is instead of worrying about one or two models from each faction, when on the game table. You pretty much look out for all of them due to “everything being broken as we like to say over here.”
You wont find any soft targets so to speak. They are all lethal in one capacity or another when fielding a list. Which makes the game more intense, lets not even consider all the combo’s you can pop off within each faction.
Its a separate game unto itself in the gameplay department. There is a definitive learning curve when attacking these rules, after bouncing over from other games. Your almost better coming into it clean or atleast this was the case for me.
The thing that lessens the load, Is the design of the character cards which gives you quicker gameplay.
After a few games you start to memorize the stats
@nogginthenog Here’s a great demo video for you to take in from MWG

Again great video. Seroiusly considering getting a Hoards army of some type. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the factions
Hey guys love the vids, I would absoluetly love to win the woldwrath, would be a hell of a start for my circle army I have been thinking about.
great video, i play circle at our shop. Love the models. This was help full, i am waiting on the book -was out of stock. Can wait to see artwork. One small comment. The video ended before you finished them alpha and wrap-up. Other than that. great -Thanks Again .
Woldwrath looks sweet!
My big, big problem with Hordes is I love all the factions.
Scales of Fate fixing broken dice is a tremendous ability. That kind of dice manipulation Is an evergreen ability that will pay off regardless of shifts in the metagame. This caster will be very very popular.
Circle was also fortunate enough to get one of the best UAs in the game, a new heavy, and a good light. Their gargantuan has an animus that is almost a feat a much-needed big gun, and knockdown tricks. The only thing Circle got that falls short of great is the blood pack, and even they are kind of good.
the orboros strike me as kinda flimsy, maybe they will get better with the stone guy
I used to think the same thing until a few Circle players chewed up my Khador and spat them out. My first experience against a Circle army was very painfully educational. Bloodtrackers don’t seem like much when you look at their card, but prey and stealth make for a lethal combo (especially with all of Circle’s “instant forest” shenanigans), or so I discovered the hard way. Then you go up against somebody fielding two Wold Guardians, and your heavy hitters spend most of the game flat on their backs from auto-knockdown hits. After a few more games (including a couple I won) I couldn’t help but start them myself. Circle is a tricky faction to get a handle on sometimes, but once you do they’re brutal.
I can’t wait to save up and add one of these to my Circle army, it would be awesome to win one though
The Wolwrath would be an excellent addition to small, but growing Circle force. Really appreciate the breakdowns so far guys.
I remember seeing those wolds for the first time on BTP and thinking those were some of the best looking treemen I’d ever seen. Too bad the Woldwrath won’t be making it into any of Shawn’s fantasy games due to size.
Really informative, thanks! I don’t play WarmaHordes, but this week’s making me wish I did.
Incredible video. Nicely explained. Worded well. Kept me interested the whole time. As a 40k player, hordes and warmachine confuses me a little. But the way the models are made, the quality of poses and variation of style is just breathtaking.
I’m picking up a Woldwrath and a ArchAngel for the IK RPG (and maybe warmachine/hordes)
I dunno why I can’t get to really like Hordes factions, but I think the one that appeals the most out of the little appeal they have for me would be Circle… Even if I like elves (The reason I got Retribution on Warmachine), Legion of Everblight mutant vibe just scares me off. I just don’t know much about the fluff on Hordes, hopefully I can get some of it this week.
I really liked the faction breakdown from the book. Well informed opinions and theories as well. Still on the fence about getting into a second faction but I am leaning over that edge more every time I look at the models. Loving the Circle.
-Thanks
Great video! Would love the woldwrath to join my army
Hey, thanks for the video. It is great to hear a bit about each faction for Horde since I am to total newbie. Keep it coming!
Feed em to the dire trolls…..
Circle are my personal favourites, I love their flavour.
May have to get Morvahna just for collecting, certainly an impressive model
That Morv model is one of the best models from them. I might just pick it up for painting.
Looking good. Thanks guys for doing gargantuan week.
HELLO!!!…………BOOM!
Some Tier lists gives bonuses like free upkeeps turn 1. But what does this help for? Circle can’t do much else with their fury can they? Possibly throw animii or non-upkeep spells?
I am so loving the look of Circle, I am tempted to dip into Hordes.
Great stuff as always.
As always Orboros rock!!
Watching this instead of working. I think I made the right choice.
Very interesting video! Thank you! 🙂
Every time something comes out for Circle I have to resist the impulse to reflexively buy it.
I love what morvahna the dawnshadow does. I think you’ll need to bring a backup whiteboard marker when playing her because the constant adding and removing damage from her will run you out of ink pretty quickly.
Plus the WoldWrath is an awesome construct.
Dirty dirt wizrds and their goats of power 🙁
While Skorne players are pretty happy with the book, I feel like Circle truly made out like bandits!
I think eMorv may become an alpha caster, or at least the closest we’ve seen since the Mk II resease
Awesome video keep up the great work.
comment
More of a Skorne player myself. But this might make me switch
Circle is the faction I prefer most in matters of great models. You’ll have a hard time until you play competetive with them but if you get the clue how to use the great expanse of mobility, denial and other shenanigans… you’ll kick faces. Wold Wrath isn’t the Uber-Gargantuan on the first glance but he is so well balanced and fits perfectly into Circle Orboros. That this mount of stones is spellwarded is a big fat plus in my opinion. This little Bugger will hurt very much, if he hits. Megalith with Animus on – hoooray, he’s going to hit SO much without boosting. If I’ll not win this buddy (and I’d never one anything so far, so why now) I’m going to buy one, when I collected enough of those earth currencies… ^^
Loving what Gargantuans brings to Circle forces. The new Griffon & Satyr especially are going to be fun to try and fit in (and can’t wait for the inevitable plastic Satyr kit 😉 )
Stone Optimusprime, can transform into: …rock. Awesome!
Morvahna looks pretty awesome, but I still can’t forgive her the crap she put Kromac and Ghetorix through!
the new warlock looks awesome,
great video, i really like our new caster 🙂
love the model for morvahna and the new archers but the alpha is the runaway winner for me beautiful model love the skinwalker background and a beast in game Fantastic!
Damn nice vid . But I’m torn between trolls and circle , tempted by Skorne and I’m even looking at cryx !! My wife will not be happy but maybe I can say they are christening presents for our son , il just look after them until he’s .. Mm 20 ish lol
Sounds that Circle has got new fantastic units and warbeasts. Good tips on how to use abilities and synergies of models 😀
Awesome vid, when you think it can’t get any better. BAMF….PP just hit you with something just amazing.
Awesome job guys , keep it up.
Brother G
Cool. I really want to start a Blindwater army, I love the Gators!
Morvana? Large base makes her too fragile, I’ll stay with Baldur all the time;)
Epic Morgana rocks, thanks for the video.
i am waiting for my new airbrush so the Woldwrath couldn’t come at abetter moment 😀 also it would me make decide to get more circle! i just love it !!! and you guys !:D
any one know were i could go to play warmachine/hordes in northern Ireland.
have a small troll bloods army
great looking models^^
Maybe I should switch to Circle…
Great looking miniatures. Would love to paint them.
Best caster in the whole book, top 5 casters in general!
Great video. I’m so glad that I found this site after watching On the Table on Youtube.
the more of these i watch i kinda like the look of warmachine but need to play a few games before i decide
^^ i ment hordes
I think I would pick this faction over the others just because of their look. I don’t know much else about the game but lucky we have youtube these days.
When will we see some painting vids of these models?
the new HA for the skinwalkers is a great addition to the 2 player box
I think I have just decided on a Hordes faction.
cool show
Everblight and Trollsbloods win hands down on cool models.
As others have said, it is very reminiscent of a battlemech, which I like a lot!
Morgana- a present for the player who rolls 2d6<6, thank you pp.
I love playing Circle. Great warriors and the fluff is great too. I’m a big fan of the constructs and love the Woldwrath but can’t help but wonder if Lugnut From Transformers served as inspiriation for the design 😉
great stuff!
Overall nice write up on the Circle orboros however will correct you here and will even provide a ruling as with Emorvahnas feet you can bring back cavalry as they are considered warrior models as per this http://privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?75771-Are-Cavalry-models-Warrior-models.
Also as per emorvs tiers units with prey can redeploy after everything has been deployed works with the non advance deploy wolfriders so the opponent that has the counter for one unit can potentially end up having a different threat than they deployed for.
p.s. If it is not to late for the woldwrath drawing I would like to throw my hat in :).
