The Kings Of War Heroes Take Shape From Mantic
July 14, 2013 by brennon
Mantic Games have decided to preview some of their upcoming heroes for Kings of War. Check out the sculpts below and see what you think of them as they will most likely be gracing a battlefield soon...
They are looking pretty good right now, with plenty of detail. I just hope that sooner or later they will begin to update some of the older models to this new standard of quality. The Elves, Dwarfs and Dark Elves are certainly in need of change, in my opinion at least.
Are these heroes joining your army?

Brennon,
The new sculpts look great! Remy and some of Mantic’s other creative artists are doing a good job of translating a vision of amazing miniatures a reality.
Totally agree with you! A “reboot the classics” mini Kickstarter from Mantic seems in order. Two sprues for the Dwarfs and Elves and another hybrid sprue, one each to make them Abyssal Dwarfs and Twilight Kin are begging to be made. Hard plastic is the way to go for core troops.
Plus, the current hybrid sets tend to be around Games Workshop prices and one of the ways Mantic set themselves apart is affordability. Their army boxes are an amazing value besides the hybrids (AD & TK). While they’re at it, why not add another sprue to spruce up the Undead and what really got some people into Deadzone, affordable, cool scenery.
For so long I wondered why wargaming required scenery for play, but did not provide much of it. A battle box of Mantic Elves including Elvish building and scenery would help distance themselves from much of the rest of the wargaming world.
Terrain is certainly an area that I reckon Mantic could take control. But yeah I think the core kits need a bit of a style update to fit in with the new way the heroes look. The heroes, to me anyway, show how good they could make their regular troops. With the amazing way the Ogres look I reckon they could make superb Dwarfs.
