Kings of War Week: Goblins Faction Breakdown
October 31, 2013 by warzan
Who doesn't love Goblins? Those sneaky, thieving little gits have a special place in the hearts of all gamers, and the races of Mantica. Wait what am I saying?! They're like rats infesting every corner of the world and need to be killed on sight!

These are rather nifty take on goblins.
Lovely little evil silly greenskins. Will make perfect slaves to my Abyssal Dwarfs. The Mincers sound very nasty and would definetly grab some of those.
Love the mounted goblins… very cool munchkins…
the little unstoppable horde
greenskins FTW!!
There’s always something attractive about the underdogs; I quite like the idea of developing the mechanical side of the goblins – how about steam driven mounts, like a mini-mincer with drills for a head charging into the enemy, or a steam driven giant with huge sledgehammer arms swinging in arcs at infantry/cavalry scything down rank upon rank…hmmm
I am not sure I would want an army entirely of goblins but I could see using them as allies.
That mincer look lethal, it may be the dwarfs bane
I laughed the hardest on this video. makes me want this army above the rest.
Question:
What is the Base size on a giant? I already have some cool reaper and Ral Partha giants that could be re-purposed.
usually Monsters are on a 50mmx50mm base; I think my giant (using a Mierce “Cormoragg” cyclops as my giant in my goblin army) is on a 60×60
Might be a little to big then. I think they are on about a 75x75mm base.
I’ve always had a soft spot for gobbos.
Wacky, dirty goblinseys!
Got the humour right with these one for sure 😉
classic wacky goblins
Great themed week guys. Loving the content and kings of war looks fun.
Think I just found some allies for the twilight kin 🙂
Goblins have the humor in their veins, ****ing hilarious and nicely done miniatures. Fleabwg riders, what a blast!
looks good
Love Goblins, hate painting them (loads of them). One of my current KoW projects is a nomadic gore (pig) farming tribe. Lots of mawbeast riders, all warmachines are on wheels and a core of gores (counts as mawbeasts) with the place of sheepdog being taken by a metal mawbeast. Really need to get back to doing that once my Basileans are done. Good videos guys, the enthusiasm is infectious.
The Mantic Goblin range is an odd one for me. I have no interest in the way the faction plays, but I love the minis.
I thought the Fleabags were hairy squigs at first.
I really love the look of a lot of these guys, the Flea Bag riders especially caught my interest as exceptional. Not sure I could ever handle building and painting an Army of this guys though but as an ally force I could see me picking up some eventually.
Goblins are always fun, love it.
the little green buggers are great but I could never sit down and paint a full army of them, hundreds of green little buggers O.O
Always love goblins and it’s no different with these guys.
Love that gobo hero and wizard!
Great comedy force.
That was hilarious, however I am curious where would you get all those other animals? I mean.. the eagles, the scorpions? From a DnD pack? Or Mantic covers those too? Green putty?
Someone totally needs to make a Goblin with a crash helmet sticking out of the blunderbus ready to be fired out of it.
I think with the goblins I would go with a themed army. With no allies. Win or be killed. Oh yeah have a lot of fun.
Like them.
Some nice stuff, would like to see some Conversion Material of Goblins (especially Warrens Insect-Riders)
Goblins sound like a really fun army to play!
These guys always bring a smile to my face
Goblins are made for cannon fodder and chaos!!! Their so much fun to field.
nice video… makes me want to own some of these little gits… 🙂 keep it up!
Neat models but fluff wise not my thing.
I really love the Mantic Goblin. Just a fun version of the goblin and different enough from the orc to really say they are different races.
Not the biggest fan of Orcs and Gobbos, but these make me want to have them as allies. Nice stuff.
Nice to see gobos in the spotlight
Love the Wiz
Loving the greenies
This sounds like the faction that adds the humour to Mantica – although meeting a mincer may not be elicit much humour,
These could be fun.
Well done Mantic! I love that Goblin Wiz 🙂 Goblin sculpts can sometimes be hit or miss, but I reckon yours are spot on!
Pests – that’s all these are… pests!
Yeah gobbos!
Deliciously sneaky.
Goblins, goblins, goblins!
Again, would have been nice had they been a bit more original with them. Ball like monsters with lots of teeth? Wolf-like mounts? Why not do jack-a-lopes instead (giant bunnies with antlers). That would have been cool. They just need to expand away from the common theme that GW has already set down.
Gobos shall inherit Mantica!
Gobo flea bags rock!
running out of things to say but thank you sounds ok 🙂
Gobos for the win!
this litlle guys look cool
love my fleabag riders
I love the look of the mantic gobbos I may have to get some!
I have no real interest in Orcs, but goblins… Yes please!
Still not liking the goblins.. In any system nor in any time frame…
I like the look of the goblin hero
Gobbo’s were always good for use as a screen for my orcs and for their weird contraptions. I really like the mawbeast/fleabags though.
Got to love the underdogs. I like the idea behind them “Orcs gone… meh.”
Goblins riding large lizards I think
really hope the sharpsticks make it to plastic, being a hybrid kit at the minute means doing sharpstick hordes can get pricey, not GW pricey, but deffo pricey for mantic
They could be fun
Need to get me so Mincers and Fleabag riders!
Goblins seem like a fun faction. I wouldn’t mind sticking them everywhere haha, that’s awesome.
The ultimate horde army. I absolutely adore the hero models, so full of character! If only I had the patience to paint enough models to make a decent sized goblin army.
I love the idea of a tribe of ‘fleabag’ riders 🙂
Give me Steve the bad guy!
So much cool stuff!
always thought of the gobos as a bit of a joke, never lost to them back in my WFB days….
this gaming system lends its self so well to humour and crazy/funny conversion
This video made me laugh out loud. 🙂
The Mincer is a great model – first used in my gaming table in a scenario for Pathfinder with a goblin infested dwarf stronghold. (Some of the best fun that I had in an RPG in years – the PCs managed to jump on the back of the Mincer, and tried to take it over… eventually crashing into a stone wall into a dwarven tomb (Now with 100% more pissed off dwarven undead!).
Even if you don’t play Kings of War – I HIGHLY recommend getting that model, it is brilliant!
The fleabags are also very nice flavorful models – with the flavor being ‘screaming blood crazed goblins on big things wi’ TEETH!’
The comment about goblins hanging off of a giant reminded me of the old (so old that it’s lead) Goblin War Giant by Grenadier Miniatures – still available through Mirliton. It – a HUGE giant, carrying a platform covered in goblins, and looking… bored. Very, very bored. (Yeah, I like that figure… can you tell?)
I have fought against a combined Orc and Goblin army, and they can be brutal – the goblins did a lot more damage to my army than the orcs.
They have a lot of flavor.
The Auld Grump
that cavalry is just great
as always warrens enthusiasm is contagious and his big diorama/battle idea sounds awesome! would love to see it
I love goblins, I’m glad they are their own force and not just a side note to orcs. They may not be my main force but my second army is always goblins and Mantic makes some of the coolest goblin models out there.
Goblin beastherders always sounded like a nice idea to me. Use one goblin to push around a dire rat. Use ten of them to (attempt to) lead around a dragon, or at least offer some entertainment.
I have loads of goblins from every make and manufacture you can think of, dating all the way back to early Ral Partha leads. Most are painted in varying degrees. All I need to do is rebase some of them, and I have a goblin faction army ready to play. Kind of excited about it.
