We got to sit down with Mark Latham who has been writing the rules for The Walking Dead: All Out War and played a game using their current rules. We're learning about the basics of the game and finding out if we can survive against the undead hordes AND other survivors.

Carl’s lucky hat is better than a displacer field, Like the gameplay, rules are straight forward with a good mix of chance and tactics to make a fun outing. Like the fact lot can be good, bad or nothing. “One stop shopping – everything you need, right at your fingertips.”

They’re called ‘roamers’ and ‘lurkers’ in the comics. I think there’s one or two uses of ‘walker’ in 151 issues.
Must get around to reading the comics, sounds as though they were quite good.
I highly recommend it. You can get the first compendium offa Amazon for less than £30. It covers issues 1-48 so will take you all the way through the Atlanta camp, Hershel’s farm, the prison, and Woodbury.

The game does look good, and I want to love it I really do, but so far I’m on the fence about backing it on KS, I’m coming around but not quite there yet.
hold on Justin shot a walker 21 mins into the play through but no mayhem happened.
Its certainly a very different ks from mantic, I’m backing but watching this one closely as progress has been slow. The rules even in this early stage read very well so looking forward to watching the playthru video

Bugger. I thought Age of Tyrants was my last Kickstarter…? I told myself that’s it!! Paint what you’ve got and play the games you have already. But now look… Awesome looking game. Have been looking for a solo play Zombie game, with great AI. Found it. Sorry Visa but your getting used and sbused again.

Watching the playthrough was great fun, and really showed of what fun the gameplay can be. I can’t wait to combine this with my Battle Systems Urban Terrain. I’m glad they’re keeping the KS simple, without too many add-ons, to make packing and shipping go smoother, but I wish there was something more I could throw my money at. Maybe I should buy a second pledge as a gift…? 😉

This looks to be a cool game
By grud it was a huge break for Mantic to get this IP! I’ve already got some Wargame Factory zombies and Crooked Dice ZombieTv rules so it will be interesting to see how they compare. I just wish somebody would do something similar with Batman or X-men. I like the look of the Knight Models but they are just so expensive. £30-40 Is a good price for a starter set. Mantic are the next big thing…
like the mechanics of this game, seems easy to learn or to teach somebody else.

Mantic have added a new $75 pledge level for those who can’t stretch to the $125 level.
Hopefully The Walking Dead will gain some mainstream traction for Mantic Games, personally I really like there ranges and at a fair price point. It would be good to see more people hearing about them rather than those of us who are already into the hobby..
The wife and I got all the comics as a Christmas present to ourselves this year. Jumped on the Kickstarter day one and haven’t looked back. Great video 🙂

Had to back, it’s the Walking Dead! Really hoping we see a Staff welding Morgan and Darryl and Merke of course .

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I’m the bearer of bad news lol. Daryl and Merle were created for the TV show so aren’t covered by this license. Morgan is in the comic but he doesn’t become a staff-wielding bad ass.

Are the miniatures made from the same material as the Dungeon Saga figures or does it feel..(gosh..this sounds ‘awkward’) harder? After all, it’s grey! So it might..??

I generally avoid kickstarters, don’t like to tie up the limited hobby spend in something I have to wait so long for. This is looking good though.

Good demo but visually needed the lifers to be visually different from the deaders. Grey on gray on grey. And for the vehicles: is the actual size denoted by the area of the card stock or the printed vehicle?

Great game guys, looking forward to giving this a try with my mates saturday evening with 3d terrain. Must find an Icecream van now its much cooler than a patrol car 🙂
So in a campaign do you roll after the game to see if those in combat get away or do you just assume that the ice cream truck rule is in effect.
This would be a great time to bring back the Battlesystems guys with product and do a 2 on 2 game!

The project page has been updated with the update 15 picture which is a great looking (6’x4′?) table with trees, tents, car wrecks, etc. Looks fantastic!

I always wondered if I should read the comic. I watched the show until somewhere in season 4 but then i stopped when I realised watching the show felt like a chore.
After some other unimpressive walking dead games I was nervous for this one, but I like what I’m seeing more and more.
I can see this being really popular game the consequences from every action you take have to be carefully weighed up. What looks at first to be pretty damning for your opponent could so easily come back to bite you. The solo gaming aspect is appealing as well.

I have decided this is a MUST HAVE game !!!. I have only watched a couple of the TV episodes and I have seen the comic but have never read it, but seeing the absolute fun you guys have had playing it makes me think this one is a smash hit in the making!

Even without the Walking Dead IP, I think this might be game I will be picking up. The only other one that I was thinking of that was similar was Dead of Winter, but this seems more like something I can get people to play. Thanks for making this video. It will be passed around and told about, even if just for the fun of viewing.

lets take a moment to salute the man that made all this IP possible…. All hail George A. Romero! Romero is Lord. Grrr Arg.
Downloaded the playtest rules and tokens and will be playing with my son.
No zombie soldiers so the Germans are demonised again and some heroes will come from the Brits (or Americans if I want to make a movie out of it).
£85 looks like a large amount, but with tons of stretch goals this is starting to make this look really worth the cash.
Already backing, and TBH, I’ve been trying to homebrew rules for my own zombie apoc game for years(and hoarding models for it), so this kinda feeds right into it~ xD
Very good looking game, like wargaming and walking dead so should be perfect. Not sure if I can jump into Kickstarter now but will have to get me a copy at some point. It does certainly have limitless possibilities as far as I can tell, I am sure the environments we will see soon will be awesome.

This is an interesting IP, I think.
The Walking Dead is looking very promising. It might actually be the first minis game I can convince my other half to try (she really enjoys the tv show).
Interesting.. I like the tactic of positioning yourself such that a walkers mandatory movement snags it against some terrain. It gives you a small element of control in what could have been an entirely random mechanic.

Mantic need to be given a cease and desist order as they are constantly tempting me to part with my hard earned money. Really appreciate this video as it gives us a great idea of how the game will play before we choose to purchase. By the way, does that ice cream van have to appear in every Zombie game?

The noise mechanic does look very interesting and even though a big table would be more fun, I like the option of playing a quick game at the club without having to lug along a huge amount of stuff. I definately look forward to trying this out.

nice demo shame the collectors edition core box comes with a paper play sheet that wont last two minutes with the other contents. its a shame really as other games zombicide etc have a robust game surface yet with this game its an add on, when it should be a core piece of the box set.

The looks like a really easy game to pick up and play. I really like the ability to solo play as that’ll make learning the game easier before trying to get friends to have a go. It’s tempting me even more now…

I do like the zombie – er, WALKER – control method based on player initiative and responses to player actions.

I can just imagine a massive game of this. Two to 5 teams on a massive 8 foot table, hundreds of walkers roaming about, and each team would have to capture an objective on the opposite side of the table and then make it back through the hoard and other teams to their starting point.
My younger brother loves Walking Dead, Id love to get a hand on that game.

OK, I’ll admit I was a bit dubious about this after seeing some other products that carry The Walking Dead IP. However after seeing this play through I can see the guys at Mantic have put a lot of work in and produced a very interesting, original game.
Now I’m stuck between choosing to back this or Shattered Earth!

Since I’m not a zombie fan the context of this game hadn’t triggered my curiosity. But now that I’ve seen it played out it actually looks like a lot of fun. The way you can use noise as a tactical option is very interesting.
Walking Dead is looking great now that we have a zombie Ronnie, still hoping for Warren, Justin, & an ice cream truck.

I’m interested in this. I have Mars Attacks, Last Night on Earth, Batman miniatures and Deadzone so I think a combination of figures and terrain from those could nicely run a game of this…. the Batman SWAT van for instance.
