VLOG: Ask Us Anything!
August 20, 2018 by lancorz
We've expanded over the years and we realised something, we still don't have an about page... So we decided to procrastinate more on that and make a vlog to ask you, what you would like to know about us?
We have quite a lot of team members now that you may not be aware of so we thought this would be a nice opportunity to get to know the team behind the camera.
Keep it PG folks, what would you like to know?

I would like to ask @warzan when he first realised he was a ‘sexy beast’. And how intimidating is it to be challenged in his sexyness by @brennon the ‘sexy furious’ 😉
Nothing beats blowing your own trumpet @warzan ?!? Lol
lol yep 😀
Lol.
As a follow up question when did @warzan realise he was a professional contortionist?
In the spirit of @warzan ‘s sense of humour – What about your significant other blowing your trumpet?
?
A general question for all the crew. what is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow
European or African?
I concur!
Question: will there be cake? Also, anyone of BoW/OTT at gamescom tomorrow? 😉
Sorry no Gamescon. But there will be cake.
Will it be lie flavoured cake?
?
The cake is a lie.
Fake cake news.
General question to everyone if you could only play one game and nothing else for the rest of your life what would it be an why?
Star Wars D6 RPG. So many fond memories. Endless universe. Flexible game.
correct
I think this will be great.
How did you get into the hobby?
How did you learn about or join BoW?
What about the hobby do you enjoy the most?
Favourite Game or System?
If you were not doing this what would you like to be or do?
Will think up some better ones….
Ask you anything? Hmm…
Fancy a date Sam? ?
Just kidding. ;). On to the serious questions:
1) for all of you – which game system is your favourite out of all the ones you play? We can all guess Ben will answer ‘B&B’, but what about the rest of you?
2) for all of you – what is your favourite genre to play in (ie fantasy, sci-fi, historical, etc) and in that genre any particular subgenres and/or periods you especially like?
3) for Justin – we’ve all seen Warren melt your mind often enough, have you got anything to melt his mind for a change?
4) 42. No, wait, that’s the answer…
5) for all of you – you’re given a blank cheque, but it can only be used to buy a single (new) army for any one system; what army and system do you pick?
6) for all of you – you get given the chance to use a time machine to go back and buy one mini or rulebook that you’ve always wanted; what mini/book do you buy?
7) for Sam – as you’re a Whovian, you also get the chance to use the time machine to go back and save a single one of the missing Doctor Who serials in its entirety; which serial do you pick?
That’s all I can think off the top of my head.
Just thought of another based on the looped footage on the XLBS link on the front page – @warzan, is @drac ‘s shower singing really that bad?
?
My favourite game system is probably Ticket to Ride, I’ve fully enjoyed all the games I’ve played of it.
I would have to save any of the missing Patrick Troughton stories. Second Doctor = best doctor.
You can only pick one, so which will it be? 😉
Looking forward to finding out who’s who and who does what.
Question for John – as his painting minion if you could change anything about Warren what would it be?
Question for Justin – Snog Marry or Avoid – Warren/Ben/Romain
Any thoughts of expanding and setting up a studio in the mainland, say the midlands area near the pewter belt, and can I get a job there please?
Just how awesome is it to work for BoW? You all always appear to be having so much fun at all times, and calling it work.
Just who is it that edits the videos and inserts their humour in to them? They are always like an extra host of the show these days, but we never know who it is. I assume it’s always Lance, but the other day I think it was Coco. Maybe they should start getting credited in the intros?
Just what does Ben do when he’s not on the weekender? Does he have a separate job or does he sit at home unsupervised googling for pictures of dwarves while telling you he’s working hard?
This all makes me think a Week-In-The-Life type video diary could be interesting so we can see what you actually do and how hard you probably do work. I’ve always assumed its not entirely a 9-5 type job and blurs with your free time.
Just how do you keep the dust off all those lovely models on your shelves? Dusting them must be a PITA. Or are they under an inch of dust and you just keep the cameras far back enough for us not to see?
Just how early do you get up on a Saturday and Sunday to film the Weekenders in time for as such an early release? 😉
I think your dust question answers your day-in-the-life-of request – it’s only a 9-10 job but then it’s 10-5 dusting everything. ?
And my money’s on them getting up like 72 hours early to film Weekenders. ?
Pretty rad to work here, everyday is different and usually working on something new or progressing to a bigger goal in mind. Deadlines can be frustrating but not as life threatening as other jobs.
The humor in the editing is from our editing team, we have some quirks that differ us that you may be able to spot who’s editing what. I’m still trying to get the petting dog meme in somewhere…
Maybe each person could adopt their own font or text colour? Or put their forum avatar before their line? BoW content has buckets of personality to it and that’s one of the reason it works so well. This could add to that? Just a thought.
I used to work in a mental health unit. You never knew for sure what you would be doing from one day to the next or what challenge you were going to face. Anything was posible. With the right team supporting you that can be exciting and a lot of fun, despite any frustration, stress or danger. BoW certainly gives the impression it has a lot of that, along with some of the … lets just say lively personalities. It does look like a very fun place to work.
We get up so early to film the Weekender that we don’t bother leaving the office. We are trapped here, in a never ending cycle of games and jaffa cakes.
We have all often thought this to be the case. This is why people send in care packets with anzac biscuits and the like in them. Its the real reason you fled to Japan I imagine. They left the doors unattended for 30 seconds and you made a break for it.
Question to any/all of the BoW team do you miss the old studies or is the new one’s way better.?
I don’t miss university at all.
Is that because at Firebending U, everyday you wake up with no eyebrows?
?
The Current ones are a better Job, but I think the time is approaching to build new ones 🙂
So that why their working in your building ? @warzan ?
Yeah, that’s an important question. All that banging upstairs. Is that for your expanded studios, or just the office upstairs being renovated? The Physical BoW 2.0?
The current one is much better. The previous Coleraine studio defied the laws of thermo dynamics. I remember filming once in a fleece and scarf.
its the warzan Zone ????
Following on from this week’s XLBS, what’s Justin like to sleep with?
A death rattle. Some say his snoring is one of the ever-present signs of the apocalypse…
The Night terrors he suffers from is what gets me 😉
1 For Warren and Lloyd what did you do before BOW, I know a bit but would like to know a bit more in detail. And who were the founding fathers/mothers of BOW and why did you start it?
2 A question for the rest of the crew old and new.
What did you do before BOW and how/why did you start at BOW?
3 I know you play a lot of games. But are the interest in games the same for all people or is there a lot of diversity? And do you play those games a lot together?
Pretty big diversity within the team, I prefer RPGs, Board games & Vidya games.
My interests lie in Skirmish Wargames now as well as role-playing games (D&D currently) as well as board and card games from a rather vast collection.
BoW was actually my first job, albeit as a volunteer, then as freelance. I only got brought on full time recently. My most recent job before I moved into this role was working at the Giant’s Causeway.
Was it more like the Titan’s Causeay for you Sam?
?
He’s the one that made it the Giants Causeway. it was just Causeway until then. It didn’t do so well with the tourists.
How about things like:
Normal role / Expertise
What your colleagues think is your expertise
whats your favourite drink
whats your favourite real drink
what do you do in your spare time thats NOT gaming related (we all have many hobbies. be they actual hobbies or family time etc)
If you could have your time again, what job would you be doing now (not OTT/BOW etc)
Great questions, I love these.
What’s The One that got away?
What didn’t you get rid of that you probably should’ve?
If you’re talking about games, I wish I’d played Magic The Gathering from an earlier age. I think it would have been a lot of fun.
Games I should have got rid of? Probably Warhammer 40,000. I enjoyed it but I just liked Warhammer Fantasy much more and should have put more time into it than I did.
Oh, I wasn’t necessarily limiting my question to gaming… the question is open to personal interpretation ?
For Justin: You get to challenge Warren on a miniature wargame on camera. Full-on competitive play. You can choose one BoW member to act as an umpire. Which game would that be and who’d be the umpire?
@warzan
How did you get in to knitting and what is your bra size
Quad D
Hmmm, answer questions that are sent in, i sent in some questions on how to find, change things and never got a reply ( sorry but guys, some things in the website are hard to find like terrain how to ). If you make references to older stuff, web streams, can you put a link in to we can find it easier.
Some things that I would like to see, play some older games, maybe like down memory lane , i see alot of stuff on the shelves but don’t see it being used. I know advertisers and companies visit so you play their games but still, would like to see some older games played.
Painting demos and streaming are good, enjoy how it’s a thought out process so no complaints.
Game convention visits – for some reason, i just find them abit lacking. It would be nice to see some more games being played, live streamed so we can see the new things. Enjoy the talks with the producers on what’s coming down the pipe.
The Projects section is awesome, really enjoy it for inspiration.
History from Oriskany – excellent, like the game and historical tie together, very nice, like that the Kursk had miniatures and board gaming, shows the scale of the battle.
my 2 cents, i believe as i’m a backstager, i can rant ( but it doesn’t mean you have to listen )
Yep we are listening, and (this goes for anyone) if you do have questions like the above and ask and don’t get a response in the forums, don’t be afraid to bump the post to make sure and get one. As you can imagine since the launch we have been flat out fixing and adding and improving things, so we can miss stuff – but we definitely don’t want to! 🙂
Understand, but still haven’t gotten an answer. I wanted to change the information of our club on the site and would like it updated, corrected from the mistake that i put in. I know upgrades are a pain but they make things better and am awaiting the kickstarter watch, the weekender is good but liked the previous where you got a large list of things game wise…this was excellent, as much as i like the weekender, the kickstarter coverage is minimal. Don’t think this is just critisism, if i were really critical, i’d just cancel the subscription but gamers understand gamers and upgrades are for the future so hoping for the best and as much as i know what i want won’t be there, it’s still a great deal and really good content overall.
And folks, i thought this was for serious questions only, not knitting or other useless info. I want BoW and OTT to take what we say to heart and make the site what we all want it to be, a fun site where we share our hobby and learn how to have fun. I game and build gaming stuff to relax, so the learning and tutorials are great.
I think we must have watched different videos, because to me it came off as more lighthearted.
Also, technically you haven’t asked any questions, just made suggestions. 😉
it says ask questions, any, mine was just saying a question i asked wasn’t answered, so ok, i didn’t ask a question but at least it let them know of an issue.
did i watch the video, no, i’ll do that later but as they were asking, i finally got an avenue to get a question or issue escalated.
which forum does a how do i correct this fit in……maybe technical support
lighthearted, ok, then not really interested. I get enough spam from ‘the world’ that figured this was a place where i could let them know what i was thinking.
again, my 2 cents
While the title does say ‘ask us anything’ the context provided by the video and the article imply this was meant in a more intimate ‘get to know us’ sense rather than a serious enquiry into the nitty gritty technical details.
Plus, if you’re going to argue that the ‘anything’ bit opens the scope up for your concerns, you can hardly complain about others asking less serious, jokey questions. ?
As to which forum, yeah, technical support for that one. In fact I think that (or contacting directly) would be a better first port of call for such inquiries. 😉
I think you sorta did get an answer – Warren has suggested for people to bump the threads/posts they’ve made that have gone unanswered to bring the team’s attention to them; presumably this is so other threads/posts/articles/etc don’t get bogged down/derailed by tangential questions. So while he hasn’t addressed your concerns directly he has directed you to the channels via which you can get everything answered. 😉
Hi @tacticalgenius pm me the changes and I can update your club info if you have not already had it changed.
A question for all team members. What would the others say was your most irritating trait? Of course all other team members are free to agree or not. If they do not agree they should submit their alternative irritating trait until a consensus has been reached.
Compelling viewing: especially if done live!
Didn’t there used to be a game show where couples had to answer questions about each other and had to write the answers down and reveal simultaneouslyand if they matched they scored points? Maybe we could get a BoW version of that; Ben as host, Justin and Warren as one team, etc. 😉
Dithering. I am the office champion at dithering.
A number of very important questions for the BoW/OTT Team!
1. Which members can lick their own nose?
2. What is your beverage of choice when gaming?
3. Which is your best side?
4. Name one Kickstarter you wish you had gone in on and didn’t!
5. Do your socks need to match?
6. What is your spirit animal, now what animal are you really most like?
7. Cadburys Cream Egg, how do you eat yours?
8. Jelly Babies, head, feet or all at once?
9. Whose farts smell the worst?
10. If the worst case scenario happened, the zombie apocalypse came about, you had run out of food and decided cannibalism might not be such a bad thing, which other team member would you kill and eat first?
Happy gaming guys!
Very Interesting Gaz!
I really wish I went in on the 7th Continent Kickstarter, it looks right up my street but I didn’t jump for it. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1926712971/the-7th-continent-what-goes-up-must-come-down
Creme Eggs are gross. I eat Jellybabies whole, just like real babies.
I have no shame in wearing odd socks lol 🙂 (Winds Andrea up though!)
5. I solve this perennial problem by only owning one colour of socks.
I agree with Antiphony, this should be done live with a guest (non-team) host. Questions should be posed to the team with a countdown clock. Each team member should have a card and a marker pen and have to put down an answer and then reveal. You could even throw in a couple of rounds from Countdown to liven things up!
How much to hire Jimmy Carr for a day to host? Shouldn’t be to much, he’s tax free right? ?
Is Sam a dude or dudette??
He is multifaceted 😉
Is that your way of giving the compliment ‘he’s a right gem’?
😉
Yes.
Kind of obvious questions but cant see anyone else asked yet:
How and when did you start gaming?
Favourite game(s)?
What do you currently play on your own time? i.e. not for BOW/OTT videos.
I’ve been playing a lot of Overwatch & Moonlighter in my spare time.
Started gaming when I was about 11 when my friend Tom told me all about the Eldar from Warhammer 40,000 in the lunch queue at Secondary School. I promptly brought some the next weekend.
Been getting back into Magic: The Gathering a lot lately, building decks for Commander format.
Holy crap! I had no idea Lance was a fire breather!
Past life 😉
Pretty damn cool. I was just an unemployed artist in my past life so props to you.
If Lancorz works for BoW and is a fire breather, does that make him an honorary dragon?
I hope so. @warzan can I have a badge?
Only if you can lay eggs @lancorz for the father of dragons 😉
I think someone failed Biology in school. I think your wife needs to explain where babies come from again.
Welcome to all the behind the scenes team. I’d like to know what made them want to join the BoW team and what they like most (and least) about their jobs. I’d also like to know what happened to Dr Dave and if we will ever see his return?????
Yes I also would like to know about Dave. Always enjoyed the segments he was in and hope he is doing well.
More of a deep question: There is a lot of “social justice” issues appearing more and more online regarding all things nerd culture. There tends to be a lot of debate between pro/anti SJ sides. Do you guys recognize that this topic has become more prevalent over the last few years and do you think it is an issue that table top miniature gaming will be effected by.
An example of this would be a recent article from another gaming site on the introduction of female space marines.
This is a topic quite close to my heart these last months (perhaps years). First, let me lay a little foundation for what I’m going to write. I (we) don’t have all the answers, in fact, new questions arise nearly daily now that I had never even considered during my 42 years shuffling around this planet.
I’m actually a big proponent of ‘Social Justice’ and think its an absolutely necessary part of what we should be undertaking as a society, and yes even in the gaming industry. But equally, I’m not a supporter of hyperbole, mobs, and faux outrage.
I believe that everyone has the right to be offended in life and should understand that that is in fact just part of life. There are some serious Social Injustices that need tackling in the world and in our particular industry there is great potential for sustained growth to be gained from widening accessibility and inclusivity (many of the steps may not even be highly visible to the end user such as how rulebooks are written etc but in time will make a difference – some steps will be larger and may even be seen as just virtue signalling – but we will have to wait and see)
So yes It is a worthwhile challenge for us to create an environment where anyone who may have an interest in what we do can feel like they can confidently become part of what we do. That is not the same as trying to reconstruct an entire industry to appeal to those who don’t want appealed to though.
The simple fact is only 20 years before I was born, the world had some blatantly obvious injustices – to me now that is so obvious – but equally to many at that time who were unaffected there was definitely a sense of… whats the harm, sure its always been like this.
I have no doubt my children and grandchildren will feel the same about me and my generation and will be shocked by things that we have considered normal.
Backstage is where we touch on the heavier and deeper subject matters, as we can have positive and meaningful discussions within the walls there (and we don’t always agree, but there is a respect for one another that is priceless and allows harder topics to be aired), and in backstage we will (gradually) be exploring in more detail the things the industry can be doing to grow its inclusion in effective ways that would hopefully benefit all.
So perhaps to me ‘Social Justice’ means something different as yes it is very important to me, but its not the same thing as taking offence but rather a large gray area (a bit too much black and white thinking in today’s online media, the world is a much more complex place than that – but it doesn’t make for catchy headlines) where we try to find solutions and steps towards a better end result rather than looking for the next excuse to grab a torch and pitchfork.
There is a lot to unpack in this topic (and gradually and constructively we will), and thank you for raising it!
The most annoying thing about this topic is that everyone has an opinion and is free to express it unless someone is offended (this is law in the UK). Offence is extremely subjective (and thus the law is poorly thought out or written) and sadly is often used to gloss over geniune ignorance or refusal to research items properly. The internet makes people faceless and gives them a feeling that they can be more extreme than they would be in person without comeback. There are reasons certain employers stalk their employees on social media and discipline them when they post material that could be offensive to some.
That doesn’t mean I don’t agree with SJR warriors on topics but I really think that the majority could do with picking the right battles to fight, for example, stop being offended on another’s behalf, they’re capable of being offended and voicing it themselves, also the world should apply more common sense (which of course isn’t common).
*for the benefit of the tape, this is not intended to be controversial or cause offence. if you’re offended by it, I recommend a cup of tea. Does wonders for me when I’m emotional.*
Very thoughtful response and I agree. I do feel that a lot of the issues raised by both sides of the argument are valid, but for me personally I’m nearly at the stage where I’d honestly rather not have the argument appear at all in certain nerd related things I enjoy, such as table top gaming, simply because I think the focus should be purely on the hobby itself.
I genuinely feel, based on what I’ve actually seen and read on many places online with regards to all things nerd-culture, that it really looks like this debate is everywhere these days, and even more likely to be raised more and more in nerd-culture related things in the future.
Don’t get me wrong, while I am tired of seeing all of this stuff online and would rather it was left to be debated in other more important real world places, I do still recognize the importance of having the debate and not just outright ignoring it.
I agree 🙂
I’m hoping our content can focus on the positive changes that are taking place within our industry so we can all discuss them and take ideas etc away with us.
But like you the overwhelming noise of unconsidered complaining is too much for me, and can often cheapen the things that matter. Likewise I also have an issue with the other extreme.
I’m offended by that comment!!!!
I’ll get my coat!
lol
Great reply @warzan. I think you guys have such a fine way of handling these difficult topics. I remember a somewhat recent Weekender where I believe it was Sam, Justin and Ben who handled a very difficult subject quite admirably (representation of mental illnesses in games). Although it felt like the stumbled into the topic it was clear that they wanted to touch on this subject and do it respectfully. I was quite impressed.
To the subject of social justice and all that I totally follow your point. I have been miniature gaming ever since discovering Games Workshop and White Dwarf 30 years ago! I love the whole hobby. I love the diverse areas and the many ways to find enjoyment. However for years I have been trying to get my (now) 9 year old daughter into the hobby without much success. And I have to say a looking at the different games out there we could definitely do with more diversity within the creators as well simply because we would get more diverse games. Most of the games are focused on male or masculine fantasies and it would be great to see some more focus on feminine traits and values.
Hopefully you guys can continue to drive the discussion forward.
@warzan & @thewholecrew – have you tried the Korean tipple called ‘Soju’ ???
I have not.
Not yet but colour me intrigued!
Reeeeeally *rubs hands like a bad Bond villain * shall be bringing a wee touch of Korea up to the boot camp for ye then 🙂
Do it.
I think I have. I can’t remember. Which may be answer in itself.
Not sure how available or widespread soju is in Japan. I don’t remember seeing it when I was there.
In addition to what you have each done and are currently responsible for at OTT, I’d like to know what brought you to this job and group in the first place. I’ve only been a Backstager for a couple years now so I’d love to get more of the backstory of BoW as well, like at which point did the whole thing stop being a “we aughta…” pub conversation and become a real thing. On the other end of the spectrum, with all the games and support material you are continually immersed in, where do you see gaming going next as well as where in the industry do you see yourselves (as individuals) heading toward?
Personally, my next steps are further away from miniature wargaming. I am an avid role-player and that is my passion so I want to do more on Dungeons & Dragons and the like as well as more on board and card games.
I still retain Burrows & Badgers are my tabletop wargame though – love the system and the miniatures to death.
How many Jammie Dodgers can each member eat in one go? Has anyone ever swapped lids on the spray cans as a prank?
Not sure about Jammie Dodgers, but I might hold the office record for jaffa cakes…
(Throws out challenge to the rest of the office @dracs @xaerin @lancorz @cassn )
It’s on!!
How do we define “In one go”? In one sitting, or in one mouthful? Jammie dodgers are a little dry and a moutfull of 20 could be a hard chew. And Jaffa Cakes deserve more respect and enjoyment and should be savoured.
What lotoin does John use to stop his manacles and chains from chafing?
John is just hard as nails mate 😉
Wow …… *awe ensues* and “John-envy” goes up 100%
Is there any chance of you guys ever upping the scale of the boot camps to make them in to bigger events for more people possibly lasting longer and taking over a cheap hotel, or ever starting BeastCon (OTTCon?), or would this be too much work outside of your core mission, and be redundant given UKGE and other events?
Out of curiosity where would you suggest we site events (either bootcamps or a con) like that? 🙂
I’m not really sure. I’ve gone BonesCon/SmogCon for the past few years. That’s in a hotel and works well, but the hotel prices are a little steep. Perhaps you could rent a smaller one? Could you rent the empty one down the street for a week or two? ChillCon is in a school this year. I’m intrigued by the idea, but it has no sleeping arrangements and I suspect it caps how big the event can get. It’s only a day long though. Derby Worlds last year was in an aircraft hanger, but the venue was smaller than desired. Might have been issues with the owners rather than the type of venue. Previously its been at Donnington racecourse. Blood and Oil is my local National annual Warmachine tournament. They’ve started renting a venue from the university and putting people up in halls of residence during the holidays. This idea has potential. Universities are large and have lots of bedrooms. My university had a cheap bus service than ran between the halls and the main campus that could probably be hired for any event. I loved that the Joan of Arc event was held in an old castle. That’s very cool, but probably not practical for a few days. I’ve heard of a board gaming “con” called Field of Games where they just rent out a field and a large tent. You camp in the field and play games in the tent. Its small scale and doesn’t really seem suitable for British weather, but its a thing.
You have friends in the industry. Perhaps one of them has a suitable space and could be persuaded to host an event themed around their products? I suspect than any event you hold (at least for the first year) would not be BIG big, but I can certainly see you attracting a much larger crowd for a boot camp, although running it and providing “instructors” becomes a new issue.
I also like the idea of Gaming Butlins/Summer Camp. Open for a week, with pre-registration events such as boot camps and tournaments. Only open to gamers and we all play. Have a board game library open for those who want to sit out events, or just want to focus on that. Set up a dedicated hobby space with John and others available to help, or run classes. Have it more relaxed that a full con. This is probably wildly impractical, unless you are friendly with a local Butlins type place that has a few dead weeks a year, and is open to ideas?
I’ve no idea how big your audience is, or how many of them would be willing to travel and pay for these events. I’d love to come to a Boot Camp, but I don’t drive and I’ve no idea what the overall cost would be so I haven’t signed up for any. I know you keep the costs down and £100 for 3 days worth of food and entertainment and a free army is stupidly cheap, but I suspect rooms and other hidden cost may greatly inflate that. I’m hoping to ask around after the upcoming one for an idea what it cost people. Perhaps next time I’ll attend. Out of interest, I am a backstager, but my friend isn’t. next time around, would I be able to buy both of us tickets during the backstager pre-release so I can get a lift and avoid public transport?
If BoW were to hold a Con I hope it focuses more on learning new games from those who already know them (wargames and board games) and playing games in general, rather than pimping and selling the latest products, although being able to buy stuff once we’ve tried it, and not have to consider postage costs is always good too!
Are any of you thinking of coming to Beacon this November down in Belfast?
Not something we’ve looked at however if anyone is free for the weekend someone might make a personal appearance.
I have a question. A sensible question. A question that will test the limits of your new IQ and stretch the sinews of your knowledge to bursting point! The question is this: given that God is infinite, and that the Universe is also infinite…would you like a toasted teacake?
Personally, I’m a waffle man
Glad someone got it 😉
Many years after I’ve forgotten red dwarf exists I’ll still have the line, “Ah so you’re a waffle man!” echoing around my head, even if I’ve no idea where it comes from anymore. Gotta love the talkie toaster
I also have the White Hole conversation on permanent loop somewhere in my brain most of the time. “So what is it?”…
Wasn’t that from ‘Stasis Leak’?
What’s a white hole?
Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. A black hole sucks time and matter out of the universe: a white hole returns it.
Turns out both these lines are from the same episode
White Hole : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxWN8AhNER0
Toaster: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLm6oTCFcxQ
What’s a white hole? 😉
Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. A black hole sucks time and matter out of the universe: a white hole returns it.
Are we going to keep this up forever?
Ah, I love a bit of classic Red Dwarf.
We don’t want any smegging toast!
How about a crumpet?
What the heck did they feed @warzan before the start of te video ?
And does the team think he needs more or less of it ?
No sane man is that hyper on a monday, am I right ? 😉
Isn’t it obvious – craic, plastic craic.
?
We call him the Bear of Wall Street.
Fascinating idea.
1) If you could live in one of the worlds from the games you play for a month (fantasy, sci-fi, historical, whatever) which would you choose, and who would you be? Rules are, if you die during this sojourn, you are immediately returned to your normal life.
2) Peanut butter, crunchy, smooth or none?
3) Favourite album to listen to whilst being creative.
4) Favourite candy bar
5) Favourite fictional book.
6) Favourite pizza topping.
7) Favourite non-fictional book.
8) Kirk or Picard? (I’ll also accept Sisko or Janeway).
9) Do you play a musical instrument? If so, tell me more.

Bonus thoughts
– Would love a BoW convention.
– I am sure there are a ton of other amateur game designers on the forum. Would love to do a “boot camp” where everyone brings prototypes of everyone’s games, we all play each other’s games and give feedback. Then everyone works on revisions, dinner, drinks and another day of playing games! Something like a creative writing group, or writing retreat weekend.
– If I can be slightly critical of the convention coverage and live blogs in general, the format with lots of short videos tends to be difficult to follow. I often put BoW on in the background whilst cooking, doing chores, or working on various things. Often it’s not easy to get back to the laptop and click around to find the next chronological video and play it. Would be nice just to either have a playlist of everything, or some other kind of auto-play next video feature for live blogs.
I’ve always found this frustrating too. I watch the coverage while painting and lots of 2 minute videos are frustrating. It does make the whole competiton entering thing simpler though. Perhaps have 2 viewing options, bulk and one at a time.
That would be cool, may be done through a play-list type thing on the site.
5) Do you mean favourite fiction book, or favourite book which doesn’t exist? Eg the books Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy written by Douglas Adams is the former, while the actual Guide in the books is the latter.
7) similarly do you mean non-fiction book as in a textbook or non-fictional as in it actually exists?
8) Archer is dead to us.
?
17) everyone get your torches and pitchforks ready in case one of them says “40k, female Space Marines”
?
Are the Con vids up on YouTube? If so you should be able to get autoplay by going to the actual YouTube site/app. 😉
5) Would accept either, good point though!
7) As above.
8) I mean I love Scot Bakula (both for Quantum Leap, and Don Quixote), there are some good episodes of Enterprise and great opening credits. But yeah, Archer was the best thing about the show, and still, it wasn’t great.
17) Lol!
Yeah, you might be right that even if autoplay might pick some weird things, they might have done playlists on youtube that would work. I do prefer to view through the site when possible, makes commenting easier 🙂

Fantastic answers! As I’ve mentioned before I do love Discworld, that is a great choice. Perhaps as a 2nd-year Unseen University student? Ideally on a field trip to Lancre, guarded by the watch (try and get it all in) 🙂
Would have to agree on Picard, though DS9 is probably my favourite Star Trek series.
Your nightmare sounds like Pratchett and Jim Henderson were big influences on you, creepy stuff!
Fullmetal Alchemist is excellent, Though I prefer Full Metal Panic, Cowboy BeBop, and Helsing, probably Helsing the most.
I am sure I and many others would love to read at least an excerpt from your NaNoWriMo Dark Fantasy!
With question 17 I wonder if I should have asked the responder to specify which game. I assume you meant this answer to apply to 40K 😉
Indeed, the turtle does move…
I think 17 was in regards to LotR – he’s saying there aren’t enough Hobbits in it. 😉
1. I’ve been playing a game called Moonlighter a lot recently, I think it would be a pleasant place to visit.
2. Both with apple slices.
3. I don’t really have albums but playlists, I really like this one: https://open.spotify.com/user/prosimie/playlist/6iNenOLfxDf94ZF9OZA8fd?si=e9hkt3LZSKO9FB2bFtrcHw
4. Starbar or Kitkat peanutbutter
5. Skellig
6. Pepperoni & Onions
7. This is Not a Game: A Guide to Alternate Reality Gaming
8. Star Wars
9. Played guitar and bass when I was a teen, I have a chinese flute and a didgeridoo that I can play a bit of. I’m okay on drums if I need to be and I’d love to learn piano however I’m not very musical.
10. Haven’t played enough to know which from which.
11. I would write about a young man who falls in love with a beautiful girl, however he’s constantly shadowed by his best friend who she falls in love with. His only chance is to win her over or kill his best friend, the key plot twist? He is a literal sentient shadow that only appears during the day.
12. Simon Pegg & Nick Frost, or Mitchell & Webb.
13. Barely English.
14. I’d love to have two cats, unfortunately my house cannot have animals bar my birds, and I’m also allergic.
15. Not a nightmare but when I got sick I had visions of huge rolling objects about 100ft tall that would roll towards me.
16. I’ve only ever bothered with Attack on Titan Season 1.
17. After years of trying I’ve realised that I don’t like wargaming.
18. Never silence but I rarely listen to the games music, usually have background noise going on another screen or device.
19. Nothing comes to mind.
20. I quote a lot from Hot Rod.
Will have to try the peanut butter and apple slices thing, I can imagine it working, PB&J is pretty good. Kitkat peanutbutter is a good shout. Fair play on the Star Wars there.
I will give that music a listen when I’m next working on Deneb, looks interesting.
That is a lot of instruments for a non-musical person, have you seen Synthesia? I used that and a very cheap (like £80) keyboard to learn a bit. Mostly play the guitar though. Also, the idea that you can play the drums if you need to, like, an action movie where all the way through you’re a hero who hasn’t been able to play the drums, but then for some reason to stop a bomb from exploding you need to play a perfect drum set 🙂
In the novel idea, is the sentient shadow, is he the shadow of the dude who is his best friend? Or some other Shadow. Really innovative idea.
Great call on the comedy duos, I love them both. Never heard of Hot Rod, but I love Brooklyn 99, and have enjoyed Lonely Island in the past.
Not sure if anyone has asked this yet but I’d love to know what the team think about the future for their hobby. What is the hobby project that you would love to get done if you had the time and the money to spare?
Simple 1:1 scale titan legions (Or perhaps 1:1 scale WWII tank battles in one specific case)
My future lies in the hands of Reaper Bones 4 coming in March.
Is it too late to ask a question now?
No. Thanks for asking.
@warzan how is your diet?
over the summer I have been enjoying the delights of a ‘see food’ diet mate 😉
it shows and Andrea is putting her foot down now lol
2 more questions after watching yesterdays Vlog:
1: Does Sam own any other shirts, or does he own multiples of “That” shirt, or does he just never change and if not, how bad is the smell?
2: How do the other companies in the building feel about “those weird nerds filming youtube videos downstairs”? How do the feel now, how did they feel when you moved in, and how has that changed over time? perhaps you could set up a “diary room” somewhere in the building so they could express their feelings on the subject without any of you present. It might be interesting. Do they ever finish work for the day and pop downstairs for a game?
