I don’t think I’ve ever thought ”I’ll stop playing this game”, the interest has just waned off and other games and hobbies have taken their place.

Games not getting new releases regularly seems to be a common reason for interest dying off, it certainly is for me. Except, it’s not exactly that, but other games getting those releases and the attention, which also leads to me spending more of my hobby and gaming time on them.

A bit of a tangent: I find it sad when people quit games because of toxic community or too competitive scene. I’ve often wondered if this is something the game creators should pay more attention to. Local scenes are of course defined by the people involved and the dynamics there, but games certainly have a ”general vibe” to them, how competitive or non-competitive they are. This is partly how the game is presented in the rules and partly how it gets promoted, officially and non-officially.
