you’ve hit the nail on the head, we discussed this in a weekender a month or so ago. The RPG market is very niche and the rights are either prohibitively expensive, or the owner doesn’t want to give away that amount of control in their universe.

A friend of @lancorz has converted Tales from the Loop for the Harry Potter world, which is an excellent basis for the game system as it’s designed for the players to be children and have their adventures without threat of death. There is a follow up RPG for teenagers that will introduce injury and death mechanics, so maybe start with new school attendees and then later on they can be in a position when they’ve grown up to face the realities of death up close and personal.
