Well, it would be coming up on 17:30 on the beaches soon. The Canadians are finally realizing their flanks are too exposed to maintain the push on Carpiquet, and instead have to focus on linking up with Sword to the east and Gold to the west. Americans are finally starting to stabilize of secure lodgement on Omaha. 1st Commando Brigade arrived about four hours ago to assist the “Ox & Bucks” (Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry) in defense of Pegasus bridge, but the actual line infantry won’t arrive there to “formally” connect with the Sword bridgehead for another four hours (21:30 local, well after nightfall even in June).
In summary, the “Longest Day” is finally drawing to a close.
