Something to consider with this idea is that  not everyone has a suitable setup to be skyped in (I know when my boss wanted me to get skype going I couldn’t and couldn’t figure out what the issue was.  I suspect it was him, but I haven’t had reason to try since), and not everyone will feel comfortable being skyped in, and may not feel comfortable saying no, once the community has voted for them.

I’m not saying this is a bad idea.  It has merit.  Maybe just don’t do it every week, and have the team pick which ones they want to have interviews for and contact the hobbyist privately first.

As for Roven’s comments about an advert-ish feel from content, this is something I have kinda noticed at times.  I know this happens due to a desire to represent everything, especially if a company wants to cooperate.  I know the lack of long term coverage comes from having so much stuff to keep up with, and a shortage of money to hire enough regular staff to actually play everything.  I know you are doing your best to give us everything you can and not go bankrupt and actually go home at the end of each day.  However, it would be nice to hear a little more about what you’re actually choosing to keep playing (And choosing not to play too) when you’re not keeping up with the content (Other than just saga 😉 ).  Its interesting and gives us a feel of what stood out for you.

Here’s probably a bad idea I just had, if staffing is an issue.  Could you perhaps deputise some of your regular attendees?  Don’t pay them, but perhaps grant them access to your demo copies of games.  Maybe free backstage access too?  Maybe record some ongoing stuff with them?  Perhaps a half hour weekly/monthly show of whats been going on in the gaming halls, with little interviews with the regulars, part documentary, part review, part video diary.  Give them a chance to demo the new stuff that comes through the doors and see what gets picked up and what they play long term.  Could ask them why they stopped playing some things, and why they embrace others.  I’m sure there’s good content to be had from documenting a community getting in to a new game over a prolonged period, not just a Boot Camp weekend.  It could solve some of the issues people have raised with reviews.  I imagine editors are in high demand though so this doesn’t get around them already being maxed out.
