Oh Lloyd once you get into the AB figures “cult” you’ll soon be ditching all your 28mm. You can still play games like Bolt Action with 20mm without making any adjustments (in fact it looks better). For WW2 AB have everything covered for Europe and the Western Front and there’s LOADS of 20mm tank kits out there (although I do wish someone did Horse Limbers for Germans and Russians along with a cart in anything other than the soft plastic ESCI use). Plus this might be an excuse to try out the Battlegroup rules (I’m sure Piers can guide you here). I’m a big fan of the Brits, AB do Brits in BDU’s, Leather Jerkins, and Smocks (all good for late war), there’s very few other ranges out there that have this covered 🙂

All you have to do now is find out if there were any Regt’s raised local to you and look into the history and conflicts they were in for a little inspiration (granted you might not have the time, but it all ends up very interesting. Think of it as “free” black library books for the fluff for 40K available on the internet). Knowing the history (just like the 40K background), really helps you get into the game and painting those figures.

All we need now is some tips from Piers on how to strive for the excellent paintjobs he does (possibly step by step), I’d LOVE to be able to get my figures even to 50% of the standard Piers does 🙂 BTW any chance of getting a list of the paints you used for those Desert Rats?
