I’ve not quite managed the “do an hour of hobby at the end of each day” I pledged earlier in the month, but find it a great way to “keep on keeping on”. @dugthefug1644 has a great idea – post to a project and ask the guys to pick it up on the hobby hangout – you can always drop @sundancer or @avernos a line to say “hey, check out my project for your next hangout” or post a comment on one of the reminder forum threads (like I’ll be doing to bang on about my own latest project https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1618858/)
Competitions are a great way to keep motivated – there are usually a few on Patreon, but maybe your local gaming club might run something similar – not only a reason to paint, but a deadline to paint to, so you stay focussed on actually getting something finished!
I’m *very close* to getting my play-over-the-net electronic gaming system finished (first game is almost ready to launch) so have been keenly painting a few minis to use in a demo video. If you’re looking for a *reason* to paint, how about commission painting? (I’d happily pay to get base coats and washes down on a few minis to give me a headstart on other games I’ve got in the pipeline….)
I reckon when gaming conventions open up again, there’ll be a massive surge in sales and visitor numbers. Whether it’ll be sustained, we’ve yet to see, but I reckon people are so desperate to indulge their own hobbies (whatever they may be) that most trade-shows are going to see demand far outstrip supply in the early days.
