Space Station Zero is interesting for the price one aspect that could be fun is the amount of single player content. I viewed it as a play your own adventure but with the party on the table top. It is important to point out this is just the second game they have released.
I do think being “famous youtubers” counts against in the sense the amount of hype that it seems to get. People saying oh this is going to top stargrave. Really have you played stargrave ? Far be from me to point out but Space Station Zero has two enemy types either a Robot or a Zombie. Playing through it once fine but the lack of enemy just does highligh how limited this system is. I would get into the whole D12 system it used and how rolling odd and even dice is such an odd choice. I would also get into the how certain better skills have you rolling more dice but that increases the chance of a double 1 and a crit fail.
I do like Vince and Adam content and they have both been very critical of rules systems from other companies. I think these early systems really shows the difference being critical of rules and trying to write your own complex compelling ruleset.
Because it is a pretty simple, no real frill fighting fantasy style game. Is it worth the money, I think so you get a fair amount of missions to play. Will anyone be playing it a month from now nope.
I would like to see them team up with Ash from GMG who has written some much better deeper games to give them a bit of a push in the right direction.
