A very interesting read @blinky465 . Those minis look great and really demonstrate what you said.
I’m guilty of using a too small a brush, but for me bigger brushes misbehave more and the tip falls apart quickly. I think I must be too aggressive with my brushes.

Yes, I’m always reminding myself to push the contrasts, but I never do it as much as I should. I particularly like the effect you achieved in those three black weapons in the bottom picture. It shows the light hitting the tips of those weapons in quite a realistic way.
