So the system is more heroic historic fantasy and less like *eh* actual historical ?
At least the figures would be good enough to be useful in a more ‘realistic’ rules set, right ?
Would this starter set convert to SAGA ?
Warlord are putting up a playthrough video of the game at 1pm BST today, if anyone is still interested.
Sorry, not a playthrough, but an overly dramatic overview
Looks fine. Nothing really groundbreaking just a decent set of rules. I’m just not sure if I will have strength to do any more Celts or Romans as I already have quite a few on multibases…
I’ll pick it up but I’m not super impressed. I’ve got Roman’s and Barbarians already otherwise I would probably give it a pass.
Campaign games are great if you have a few people but at my local club there’s one person who’s very interested and a few who might pick it up so that might kill it for me.
I much prefer standalone games that have the option for Campaigns like LOTR which has a Core Game and Battle Companies available as an optional extra.
Agreed – game play looks dull compared to other current skirmish gmes such as Mortal Gods, Saga and Test of Honour 2, IMO.
I’m up for it as a skirmish game. 40 notes for the chance to paint up a couple of dozen models from an interesting period/genre I haven’t tried before and give them a whiz on the table with some rules that look straightforward enough to pick up without a degree in maths. I’m in. Particularly with the £10 price drop.
Whether I go further, who knows, but I’d rather risk the money on this than on some fantasy game on kickstarter that’ll probably disappear without a trace immediately after launch.
Very unimpressed, nothing new, original or groundbreaking here, just another set of rules to sell their sub-par Wargame Factory models.
My enthusiasm has fallen greatly for this but these look new, and rather awesome! If they are not new, I can’t believe I don’t already own them!

@Robert they’ve had the hounds for a while but the houndmasters are new
@elessar2590 good man! I know I have a man with an axe and some doggos from Warlord but didn’t recognise these at all.
