@trewets Contrast is usually king so I’d suggest putting you light sandy model against a dark base. Try getting some dark materials (A pair of socks, a tshirt if you cant find some paper to cut up) and standing him on that, maybe wrapping it around his feet to see which you prefer. If you can work a little red in to it, it should also help stand out against any greens should you use the basing effect on future dark angels.
You could always combine the two. A dark base with a sandy pigment dust over the top?
Been working on changing this…

…to this….

…to the finished product…

I figured I should have painted up the caped crusader sooner rather than later. I was also able to finish up Nightwing

I haven’t actually painted a mini for a couple of weeks. I’ve been building terrain and otherwise been a bit time poor. I put in a cheeky order with Oathsworn for some minis I should have bought from the start and painted up the Hare Barkeep.
I had real painters block with him to start with. I couldn’t even decide what colour to paint his fur for about half an hour. Once I found some flow the mini painted itself almost!

As always a beautiful sculpt – this has quickly become my favourite mini – and this model has so many little details without being punishingly intricate. I painted one of his eyes as a false eye made from brass.
Great fun to apply colour and grime to stain his apron and rag with- usually it’s clean colours and highlights without wanting splodges everywhere.
Apologies for the bunk lighting.
More troops and a hero painted for Mythic Battles: Pantheon. Full thread here: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1318411

Messing around with my Secret Weapon Miniatures “Malice RPG” game tiles as ruins for my Loke Battlemats “Slaughter Field” battlemat…

Some more Gotham city chronicles stuff. This time Azrael and Black Canary.

Completed some Spanish for Blood&Plunder. Only got eight left from the starter kit to do now, maybe I will actually complete a full starter? Shock!! 🙂

My decent phone died so ~I’m relegated to an ancient spare for a couple of months so forgive the photo quality. Continuing work on the command squad, but I got a bigature to paint up properly too…

The original paintjobs are horrific, but they are toys after all. Gave the thing a wee sand first, but the vinyl is sooo smooth it’s a nightmare handling it. Probably better airbrushing this size of model, but it’ll look quite cool when he’s all Death Strike’d up.
Went with a light clay base in the end with a dark brown surround to frame the model. Oh and a few different grass tufts
I’ve been busy starting the bases on my landwher and starting the basecoats on the next lot of skirmishers

More Gotham city chronicles stuff. This time Batgirl and Spoiler.

And this little bug hunter from Kabuki Studio got painted yesterday only after 8 years in the box and two failed attempts – that is another effect of spring cleaning. One of those previous attempts to paint her, left greenstuff beret on her head instead of a very weird cap that the model originally had.
