Latest progress shot. Just the NMM iron and gold to go and I have no idea what i’m doing. In the early stages of following a guide for the gold right now, but I’m calling it a night. Gotta get up early to travel all the way to the dining room for work in the morning, after all. I hope to finish the gold tomorrow, but I’d love a guide I can follow for the iron afterwards if anyone has anything useful?  Project Link HERE.

Yes mate, they are for Conquest. This is my 4th army so far and I think they will certainly be my main faction for sure… (until City States and Wahdruun get released ???)

Working on the Ancient Storm Dragon from AntiMatter Games.

Trying out airbrush for the first time as well as Kimera paints. Absolutely stunned by the quality of those paints, regret I didn’t buy them earlier. So pure and beautiful colours and amazing high amount of pigment.

(3D-printable stl-file up for grabs in the add-ons of their current kickstarter campaign – 2 days left)

So I came here to post an updated pic having finished the NMM Gold, looking to moan about the end result being poor, but it seems I can’t take a representatively bad pic of it. The photos look better than in real life. I think there’s just enough blur in the pics to blur the boundaries between the layers.  They actually look good. I’ve finished the gold, but I think it isn’t quite there yet.

I’d love some constructive feedback on the NMM as I am still not happy with it and I don’t know if I’m a simple extra unknown step away from making it pop, if I should be happy with what I have, or if I should accept defeat and use true metallics. Would a mid tone glaze or two, followed by reclaiming the extreme highlights help?

I also don’t currently know where to begin with NMM iron, especially on flat surfaces like her axe head.

@lawnor I’m not an expert on NMM, but I find Vince Venturella’s choices of colours very appealing. This is his video on the topic if you haven’t seen it yet. And to cut it short his advice is mostly “more colours in the shadows”

And that’s just because you explicitly asked, I love your piece regardless.

Thank you, @shingen for the video and the compliment.  I am loving her, jut not the NMM yet and I’m not sure how much of that is justified and how much is fear and self doubt.  I’ll definitely give that video a watch before I pick up a brush again.

So the Flower Knight from KDM is coming along……not finished buuuuuuut getting there!! Anyways decided it was time to build a suitable base for him so grabbed a plinth, did some sculpting, raided the garden, stuck some stuffs on it, primed it and bingo – he has a base!! Now just to paint it………… and finish the knight.

For those that might be interested, I’ve updated my KDM project with a guide of sorts as to how i built the plinth base thingy. It’s long so there are three parts but with plenty of pics!! Links are………

    here

    Part I

    Part II

    Part III

Once I start painting the base, will also be doing a guide on that.

Long time no see! Due to some annoying health issues and an enormous amount of stress/ work etc  I haven’t been around here for a good few months. But now that we have the apocalypse I feel strangely rejuvenated and I am announcing  my comeback into the fold with the new all plastic multi pose Dark Age Irish warband (or at least the first part of it) from Wargames Atlantic:
