The Shadow Queen Is Coming To Age Of Sigmar
January 24, 2018 by brennon
As part of a teaser trailer for the approaching shadow that threatens to change the world of Age Of Sigmar, we got to learn about a returning character to the Mortal Realms. Could Morathi be coming back at the head of a new force for Games Workshop?
The trailer talks of a powerful character escaping from the maw of a terrible god and how she was forgotten by the others as she fought to protect the Mortal Realms from the threat of Chaos.
The links to the Aelf God Khaine, as well as plenty of moments which show Witch Elves and lots of serpentine women being thrown into the mix, mean that we're probably going to be seeing Morathi come back to take her place amongst the other mighty characters in Age Of Sigmar.
This could be a very neat new range of miniatures if they get them right. Witch Elves obviously bring in a lot of chances to try something new and dynamic with the models plus there's plenty of room for new monsters and more as part of her force.
I wonder how this is going to sit with Malerion and Tyrion, never mind the other forces of Order? Maybe we'll start to see more from the Aelfs as a whole and could even get a Malerion model!
What do you think?

I have fallen deeply in lust with the owner of that voice ……*has cold shower* …… So we have the mark of Khaine … mention that Morathi has been “changed” and …. slithered from the throat of Slaanesh , so one lamia demi god coming up. Will she play for team order ??? …. She doesn’t seem too fond of the others and the lore mentions that she has had a falling out with her son, so maybe not. as Khaine dead god or not doesn’t come across as an Order kind of bloke.
Team Chaos then ?? Last time she flirted with them Slaanesh ate her . I think that is bound to put a damper on the relationship. All the Grecian style art shows Morathi’s troops fighting Slaanesh as well so possibly not.
Tem Death?? Well her God is Dead and Khaine is the God of Murder which is pretty “Deathy” . Chaos and Order have multiple dieties, so she doesn’t have to be toeing Nagash’s party line……Outside chance.
which leaves team Destruction. Angry, annoyed looking for vengence and p!ssed off at the world … This is where my money is.
First time in history Slaanesh didn’t swallow 🙂
Sounds like Khaine based elf/gorgon stuffs
I’m pretty sure Morathi is supposed to be part of Order (that’s how things were left), and the images in the video seem to suggest that the Witch Elves are fighting Slaneesh type demons.
There were rumours that we were going to get 2 elf factions released this year, so if that is the case, maybe Morathi changes sides to something else? I dunno; I still think she’ll be part of order (not like the current Dark Elves are saints or anything, and they’re with Order).
Yes Malarion’s dark Aelves are with order, but she is none too fond of her son… It doesn’t necessarily follow that all Dark Aelves remain order, and does this even remains an Aelf faction … look at Sylvaneth they split the old world army and it is now now Aelf (and greatly improved … 😀 ).
Yes Morathi was part of Sigmar’s pantheon but so were Nagash and Gorkamorka and they aren’t Order
Think in D and D terms. Order, being like Lawful. Lawful Evil. You can have Order and Evil together. You can always have people even in the same faction with different motivations.
Heck Chaos and Destruction turn on each other half the time if all of the fluff is something to go by accross 40k, WHB and AoS
Sounds about right to me mage – an evil spin on Order seems like the best fit for Morathi. She had a leaning toward Chaos back in the World That Was, but she isn’t the type to forgive Slaanesh trying to eat her.
Then again, reading the current slew of stories on the Malign Portents website, even the ‘good’ end of Order seems to have some elements who are totally losing the plot, what with Knights Excelsior Stormcast seemingly losing their humanity from being reforged too often, and subsequently going totally rogue and ruthlessly slaughtering human troops and civilians because there is a possibility they might be infected by one of Nurgle’s plagues. No attempt to heal them, no contact with magic users who could do something about it, no reference back to Sigmaron for alternative options – just immediately hit the big red button marked ‘mass murder’ in a way that would make the most fanatical of Puritan 40K inquisitors proud (so much for Stormcast being too morally upright and undermining the grimdark aesthetic of Warhammer…). A link for those who are interested.

All Order implies is an opposition to the inchoate anarchy of Chaos, not being in any way necessarily morally worthy in a broader sense (Sigmar had no problem allying his forces with Nagash when it suited him, up until Nagash predictably betrayed him at least). With things like the actions of the Knights Excelsior leaving hefty dents in the halo of the foremost among the notional ‘good guy’ factions, outright evil Order factions seem entirely likely.
For what I recall from WHF lore she is kind of lass to flirt with both Slaanesh and Khaine while making rules that she can ignore herself just like her son. After all she was both Sorceress and Witch Elf at same time so that she could do both use magic and use Cauldron to keep her youth. So she really liked to have her cake and eat it to.
She did indeed @mecha82 . She did fall to Chaos toward the End Times. If you ever had more than a passing interest in Warhammer Fantasy, and even if you do not like the Age of Sigmar, I would strongly advise you read Warhammer End Times Book V: Archaon
A new player entering the arena for the dark side sounds like a (calypso) type character.
Say what you like about GW but they are getting much better at this trailer bussines
the woman in the video seems to need some 1on1 close quarter action *wink* *wink*.
made me laugh; surely not what was intended.
I’d say she had enough of any of that. Considering her time with the dark prince.
