That is a big response indeed.
They just keep coming…. Keeps the pressure on the US troops even with their superior kit.
this is an interesting video format, but it just doesn’t quite seem long enough to me. it seems like its over by the time I get into the groove of the vid. That being said, not sure what you could add in that wouldn’t defeat the purpose of doing a quick turn by turn discussion of the differences between Tour of Duty and Flames of War… maybe it would have been better to have done it by rounds (American turn and VC turn per vid?)
A full-blown battle report vid would be a grand finale, indeed.
(If you get me the army, I’ll fix that for you, BoW.) 😉
Fingers crossed for a full battle vid soon.
I’m still new to FoW, is the scoring present in the WW2 rules as well?
god the local forces player has the opportunity to be the ultimate ass
Enjoying it but I agree more in-depth vids would have been nice. Though I understand the concept, without playing the turns fully all those VC shenanigans come across a bit silly.
Really looking forward to a battlereport soon 🙂
Hopefully it ends with a long battle with Dave. Haven’t enjoyed the week. Can’t enjoy FOW without Dave. Dave & Warren together made the other videos and made me want to watch them. These vids just haven’t had the same appeal.
Sad now as was looking forward to a week long Dave and Warren FOW session of vids. Oh well.
Looks a bit like killing Zombies in black pyjamas
Ouch – that is one big template! definitely hurt.
Jep, PAVN is not a poor enemy and cannonfodder (only). But has lots of surprises that can confuse and frustrate the Free-world players.
Interesting snippets again, showcasing the general feel and quirks of the forces. It is bit hard to grasp the big picture from these segments, though. Therefore I’m really looking forward for the oncoming Vietnam slugfest between Dave and Warren.
Yeah, a batrep would be great. Btw, I really like the way the VC have all those ‘dirty’ tricks up their sleeve.
Cunning. Simply cunning
PAVN looks more and more fun. You could be trolling your opponent all day long with those moves.
You’re not the only one who’s confused, Warren. These vids are showing this game’s unique elements really well, but …
This is so different to 2 armies lining up and slamming into one another, I think it really would benefit from a full blown batrep.
That’s crazy to wrap your head around. I’m guessing there are constantly changing flanks and the need to regroup. Sounds like Vietnam, for sure.
I’m starting to fall in love with these imbalanced forces and special rules. This looks to be a very ‘different’ and very interesting game.
My only question is where are the jets? The huge F-4 Phantoms. All the A-6 Intruders trying to search out hidden SAM sites in the jungle. Even the A-1 Skyraider, one of the last prop planes used by US forces in a combat role but that could carry many rockets and napalm canisters. Will they be producing any of these?
No jets or planes yet.
Haven’t heard any plans for them either.
I like the overview of the system, gives me a good feel for how its going to play. Well dobe lads. I want to see more, possibly a recreation of a major battle?
I love the special rules for the North Vietnamese. The mobility for the U.S. troops is great too. I wish there could have been a proper battle report, but this was a nice showcase of the differences between the units.
Love the tricks of the vietnamese, it balances the 2 pizzaboxes, I guess
The PAVN are looking like an interesting list to play, even if I wouldn’t get to buy, paint and field as many tanks and helecopters as an american player.
Thats pretty awesome having them come back on
Wow this is very very deep tactically.
Picked up the book fairly early on, but just couldn’t get in to it. This has just brought it all to life. I can feel a major re-read coming on, then to decide if it is Vietnam or Winter War next……….
Impossible to choose between PAVN and US, both look like lots of fun
Love these videos. Little too short maybe, though.
All the hype over that huge template, then they can just come back in full force the following turn… Wow this game sure is interesting.
The rules for the PAVN seem good for moving into other modern scenarios after vietnam as well, could even do a little “black hawk down” with the helicopters.
These crazy rules are fascinating, but I’d really like to see this work in an actual game, the sudo-gameplay is a little distracting. In juxtaposition to the bolt-action demo game we saw last week, that really sucked me in.
Interesting concepts for Charlie just keep popping up.
Interesting to see the different mechanics!
Please, please, please do a massive battle report!
I would play either army in a heartbeat – but I am currently stuck in WWIII
NAM week for the win Yeaahhhh!
And nnow I feel the need to return to my first opinion, the underdog army PAVN, though I’m starting to doubt if they really are the underdog…..
Looking forward to checking out the rules with theme appropriate music. Thank you!
this is how tutorial videos are made!
Another great video guys thanks.
Good coverage, thanks guys!
random comment to win stuff
Yeah, these overview vids sell well, IMO. I don’t need all the dice rolls to get an idea of the system.
Make a batrep plase.
moving the objective how cool is that??? Thx bow for a great week
Can’t wait to play FoW now
Nice vids guys. You can really learn a lot from watching these. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
If I were starting FOW I’d defo be going for the PAVN. They have so many cool rules. Lots of infantry to paint though…
Just getting into WWII Flames of War – but like the look of the Vietnam version, still haven’t decided which side I’d like to play!
Real decisions to be made as to how badly you wanna smash up the PAVN
Man do I want to get into this game.
Nice to see the rules slowly being put forward. I hope you guys get the chance to do a full proper battle report implementing everything we are learning.
Again great vid and when did the NVA become PAVN?
loving the coverage, give me more!!!
Cant wait to see the end
Eldar- I mean, North Vietnamese perfidy!
VC coming out of the woodwork!!!!
Hmmmmm veddy intewesting….. they just come back….. veddy, veddy intewesting ……
boom baby boom. surprise were behind you
Best theme week yet guys. Thoroughly enjoyed it all. Especially nice touch with the music. And i liked the multiple unboxings spread over the week.
I’m going on a copy+paste mission now to maybe win an army. If not, i’ll be buying one anyway.
What a template. Who needs apocalypse when you have nam?
I love the rules for the pavn ary so sneaky
It seems that “Charlie” can effectively lead the US around the board by the nose when using their rules precisely.
Interesting.
Would love a full battle report
Another great chapter to the review. I also like the shorter times, 10 minutes is easier to digest rather than 40+ minutes.
Man you guys make me want to play more nam games!!!!
I love the smell of VC in the morning.
the game is getting better every year
