British Troops Move Into Position For A Beach Assault

Another of the awesome tabletops from the Open Day is this stunning take on a D-Day invasion as the British move up onto the beach to assault dug in German positions.

Things are relatively quiet at the moment but things are sure to hot up as the day continues and the bevvy of Allied troops are unloaded onto the beach to begin the liberation of France.

Just as a quick hot fact…the machine guns mounted on the back of those landing craft come in SEVEN, yes SEVEN parts! That seems quite fiddly but I’m assured that it makes for very accurate weaponry.

I loved seeing them as well. It would be great to have a game on that set up, with all the specialist equipment.

Shermans with flails, a bridgelayer and a bulldozer, now that is nice. Packed into the landing craft it is just fabulous.
Question: The Germans are two men per base and they seem to be ordinary infantry. Is that right and are there rules and stuff that cover this? Or was it just done to make the figurines fit in to the trenches (which btw, are great!)?

Again, fantastic ships to land troops on the beach.

Trenches, Landing obstacles, Barbed Wire, Rollout roadway material to add the moving of vehicles through the sand. All well done!

My hats off to the teams involved!

that landing craft is great…was it scratch built?

From talking to Kevin, the landing craft were 20mm kits from Accurate Armour. The ‘Funnies’ are from Skytrex.

I can get away with a lot but even I don’t think that landing craft would be acceptable hobby. They are lovely.

Although technically different scales, it’s good to see that the tanks and landing craft scale pretty well with each other.

They did look like great looking beach landing tables on your walk through earlier.

Very nice set up. Up close the water isn’t great but I’ve no idea how I’d do better without going crazy
