We're now stopping in with Dave to talk more about the next scenario which will include how terrain moves around, moons and the fact that we might be able to get stuck into a BIG game featuring all manner of ships.
“If you crash a Battleship into the Moon, do you win two spot-prizes?” Hahah!!!! Give that man a spot-prize for his ingenuity!!! Brilliant!

I can see someone not quite flying into a moon on purpose. More of a semi intentional drift.

This looks amazing I hope you guys do another one of these events and I will bring my lovely Scourge fleet. Also wouldn’t have a battleship at the moment but defo always room for my Manticore =)

Just for argument’s sake, how many hull points would a moon have? (thinking first person to destroy a moon)
That moon looks groovy
I must admit, I’m not a fan of having moons in the game,
If we take Earth as an example, I’m fairly certain it was mentioned somewhere that High Orbit is around the realm of geostationary orbit, so about 35,000km. Our moon meanwhile orbits at about 380,000km, so over 10x as high.
Ah well, I suppose I could always justify it as an impossible mission for our planet, and only occurs over planets where there’s a moon in /very/ tight orbit around the planet.
You read my mind with this, I’d be inclined to leave them out altogether….

I’m just waiting to see that some lucky bloke managed to whittle his opponents fleet down to only the battleship which then gets critically damaged and it’s orbital decay causes it to crash into the moon all before anyone else does any of those three and so claims all three spot prizes in one go :D.

okay, this live blog is getting me exited about the game, can´t wait for my pledge to arrive
I can see the game being really fun/interesting with a bunch of ‘smaller’ moons all over the place. But you could go under them.
all the Terrain sounds really cool! you guys should hack in comets and ice geyser (comming form moons). using planets rings is really cool, gives you that classic moment form the new star trek movie! love it!
