Why hail what it’s name. Warlord could do the Battle of the Boyne and Athenry,

How do the tiny planes get from one side of the board to the other? The ship blocks everything?!

How did they fit the massive aircraft carrier in that box for blood red sky ? Joking aside I do think going into the battle of midway is an interesting direction. The scale might be slight too big but I love the idea of carrier based war game with models.

The new Blood Red Skies looks great and at least the table setup is going to be straightforward as I’ve already got a sea mat.

That shot of the aircraft carrier is what pulled me into Blood Red Skys way back when they first debuted it! I went out and bought four paper 1/200 scale aircraft carriers and some kits and then scrounged for 1/200 scale Wildcats and used stats from other aircraft so I could play the Battle of Midway!

Nice to see that they are catching up with me now! ?

Also, really miss seeing Charlie playing games in the Studio! We need more Charlie! ??

The planes look great and the battle of midway is a great alternative to the battle of Britain.

I’m a big fan of warlord games – I think they always get the right balance between historical flavour and playability.

15mm Waterloo you say, I could get on board with that.

But is it 15mm?

Whatever it is, it’s bigger than 10mm, which I’m not keen on and it’s smaller than 20-28mm which I consider limiting for mass battle. I’m aware it may be it’s own weird scale, but I can make peace with that, as long as it’s supported. If not and the ruleset is worth it, then 3d printing will solve that.

I get why people are critical, but I’ve got more important things to worry about.

I managed to hold out when it came to ACW. But the Napoleonics ……dam you, and if the romans are coming. I’m doomed! And now I’m gonna end up painting ah bunch of tiny planes cause I dig anything pacific. I shake my fist at you warlord !

Did have some fun with Blood Red Skies once I painted up the Spitfires and ME 109’s.

Tiny little plastic man’s, tiny little plastic planes and tiny little plastic boats. Very consistent.

Epic Waterloo is on my new year radar

It’s four bases for the Epic Naps (or 80 figs) vs the five for the ACW game (100 figs) if I’m correct. I still think the ACW version imparts a more “mass battle” than the Naps version (plus the painting is easier).

I’m still waiting however to see how many gamers remain “sane” after painting British Lace on these 13.5mm figures hundreds (and hundreds) of times 😀

You just need to paint the front where the lace is white. There is so little gap in between a wash will do the job . As long as the arms and the jacket underneath the lace is a nice strong red it should look fine in my opinion

ive had a few games of blood red skies with friends and found it to be a good bit of fun. the art style on the cards is wonderfully simple too. however, my wallet has always resisted the purchase.
