I think bolt action is very accessible for new players – as the adage says about all good games, quick to learn, a lifetime to master 🙂

Its always so great to see the veteran and new players all together. And the great thing is a new player still has a chance to beat an old veteran! That’s why I love bolt action so much, ya can never just buy auto win units, ya always gotta stay on your toes and think tactically.

we had some great face offs with the honours evenly split between them.

Like a lot of games, the rules seem like a lot more than they are until you pick uo the dice. Its really a simple game to play.

one of each in the end. The Fox was brand new and I gave him his list at the start of the weekend, while the Rat has played BA before.

My dad and I have played about 10 games in the past month or so, the rules are easy to pick up and we rarely refer to the rulebook at this point. Amazing game system!

Learning a game by playing is so much easier than learning by reading

@beardragon it helps if you can turn around and shout Gerry over your shoulder when you have a rules query

Looking at those end on views of the tables makes me wonder about a “defence in depth game” – could be epic!

It is a great game to bring new players into, I’ve always found the rules to be quite easy to pick up and to teach.

It’s great that the emphasis is on fun, so new players can enjoy learning the game alongside vets who already love it.

I wonder whether the veterans did better than the newbies? I mean on average, there is dice rolls and stuff that are independent from game experience.

Good question I don’t think the guys kept tabs on that

Always good to see new players in every game system.
