New Soviet Naval Brigade Miniatures Pop Up For Warlord’s Bolt Action
February 16, 2026 by brennon
The Soviets get a surprise addition to their range this month as Warlord Games releases a new take on their Soviet Naval Brigade for use in the 28mm World War II wargame, Bolt Action.
Soviet Naval Brigade HQ // Bolt Action
The Soviet Navy didn't get to do a lot of sailing throughout the war and so many sailors were pressed into service as infantrymen on the front lines. They still wore the classic uniforms and distinctive caps, plus those striped telnyashka undershirts that you'll be familiar with if you've seen images from the period.
This set leads the way, a Naval Brigade HQ which features four Warlord Resin figures. You get an Officer, NCO with Banner, Radio Operator and Medic. A solid set of leaders for getting your troops stuck into the midst of the fighting.
It shouldn't take that much to get these soldiers stuck into the action. They were known as the Black Death by the Germans by virtue of their dark uniforms and fearsome reputation!
Soviet Naval Brigade Squad // Bolt Action
Several specialised naval units were formed during World War II, forty Brigades and five Regiments. They were known for being tenacious and daring and many of them came with previous military experience to back up their reputations.
This Soviet Naval Brigade Squad gives you a solid selection of those hardened sailors. They fit in with the Hammer & Sickle Army Special Rules and come with Tough Fighters as well, which is going to be key!
This set comes with another pack of twelve Warlord Resin 28mm scale miniatures. You get an NCO with a submachine gun, one soldier with an LMG and ten soldiers armed with standard rifles.
If you want to get hardcore, you can also pick up the Soviet Naval Brigade Veteran Squad.

This set comes with some even more hardened veterans for use in your games of Bolt Action. You get twelve miniatures in the set, starting with an NCO with a submachine gun, one soldier with an LMG and then ten soldiers also armed with submachine guns, so they can get up close and personal with the enemy!
Covering Fire!
Lastly, you can also lay down a bit more supporting fire with the Soviet Naval Brigade Medium Machine Gun.
Soviet Naval Brigade MMG Team // Bolt Action
This is a classic, good old-fashioned Medium Machine Gun that can be used to lay down some covering fire as the rest of your Naval Brigade advances through the ruins of some blasted Soviet city. These are also Warlord Resin and you get three crew alongside the gun.
All of these miniatures are available for you to pre-order right now, ahead of a release later on this month.
What do you make of the Soviet Naval Brigade?

these can bring a little more variety to your stalingrad battle
These look good . Probably will order a Rifle Squad . My only complaint is the lack of Maxim Mg ammo belts crisscrossing their toros . Most period pictures I’ve seen of these dudes show pretty much everyone Rambo’d out with ammo belts . The Maxim fired at 520 rpm , the ammo belts were 250 rounds each , enough for 30 seconds of rock & roll . With the gun on its wheels weighing 100 plus pounds , the crew had enough to handle never mind them carrying ammo boxes .
This is common across all LMG or MMG models from Warlord. I like to have lots of ‘stuff’ on the vignette pieces too to make it look more believable. I’m looking at you, every single mortar bomb equipped mortar… good luck doing anything more than that first ranging shot!
I hear you loud and clear . Always on the look out for the correct in scale ammo box . Got a line on some 3D printed Maxim and DShk boxes in 1/48 scale that look pretty good . Ammo belts are easy because the Warlord belts that come with the German plastics are overscale and match Tamiya / Dragon 1/35 belts and I have lots of those from my previous larger scale model addiction . Figuring out how to have then crisscrossed on the Sailors is another thing .
When did Warlord start doing resin? Maybe it’s the reason why the heads on these guys look fairly normal.
Sometime last year I think . I got the German tank crew in the new plastic/resin ( no idea what it’s called ) in the Tank Wars box set . After that the 4 man command groups and heavy weapons teams popped up in this stuff . I like , it is nicely detailed and the sets I have painted up a treat .
