Warfulcrum Games has added some brand new 28mm scale physical and digital World War I kits to their collection for use in their Historical wargame, 1918. Both the Germans and the British are getting some new specialist weapons to help claim victory.

British HMG Section - Vickers - 1918

British HMG Section - Vickers // 1918

We start with the Vickers British HMG Section, which comes with a selection of miniatures that form together to create a full weapon team. You get the gunner and the assistant alongside another assistant watching over the ammo and a final soldier carrying boxes of ammo forward to help keep the guns firing.

If you're looking to give some covering fire from further away, you can also get your hands on the British Light Mortar Team with a three inch stokes light trench mortar.

Again, this comes with four crew members who are all working together to blast away the enemy. You also have the additional, separate ammo that can be added to a decorative base for this piece. I like that the crew are really animated and full of character, as if they are properly in the heart of the fighting, desperately keeping the mortar rounds flying.

New German Miniatures

The Germans get themselves some great new specialists as well. The German Sniper Team is an awesome piece.

German Sniper Team - 1918

German Sniper Team // 1918

You get a couple of snipers armed with the Gewehr Model 98, peering down their scopes at the enemy on the other side of No Man's Land. One of them is taking a shot whilst the other is adjusting his scope for a better shot. You also have the spotter who is watching for the enemy and calling out the shots for the snipers to take.

If you get to the enemy lines and you need to burn out your enemies, you can also call on a terrifying German Flamethrower Team.

This set comes with a nervous assistant and the operator who is unleashing a terrifying blast of fire towards the enemy, engulfing their trench. This would have been absolutely awful in the confined spaces of the trenches. You also get a flame effect that you can print and add to the end of the nozzle. It is then "held up" for gaming purposes by the sandbags at the end.

If you're looking for something a little weirder, you can also get the German Minethrower Team. Yes, you read that right.

German Minethrower Team - 1918

German Minethrower Team // 1918

This is another team broken down into four soldiers alongside the 7.6mm Light Minenwerfer and the ammunition tins. Again, you've got a nicely animated set of characterful troops who would look excellent as part of your army or a diorama. This fired a 'mine shell', which was just a different kind of artillery shell that had more concentrated explosive force; it would also be known as high-capacity/high-explosive and provides you with something a little different to include in your German force.

Last but not least, we have the German 7.7cm Field Gun Team.

German 77cm Field Gun Team - 1918

German 7.7cm Field Gun Team // 1918

This gives you a fearsome gun for you to throw into the mix, manned by a crew of six. Use this for blasting a hole or two in enemy armour as it advances or for shattering the enemy fortifications and trench networks, making it easier for you to charge in and take their land.

As well as what you can see here, even more is on the way for 1918 later this week with the British 18pdr Field Gun Team and the German A7V Heavy Tank. Nice! Keep an eye for those on the webstore HERE.

Could these new releases tempt you to dive into World War I wargaming?
