Crooked Dice has previewed some brand new 28mm Sci-Fi miniatures coming to their Colony 87 range. This time around, they have let the dogs out and the Homo Canid are looking to prove that they are the bestest boys!

Revolutionary - Crooked Dice

Revolutionary // Crooked Dice

This set of new miniatures represents a species integral to the expanding Colony 87 background that will then be part of a new game coming out next year. You can, of course, make use of these miniatures for your regular games of 7TV but also further afield in games like Stargrave. They would also be excellent for use as character miniatures in Untamed World, a new role-playing game by Osprey Games.

Reliquary Vanguard - Crooked Dice

Reliquary Vanguard // Crooked Dice

All of the miniatures that you see here have been sculpted by Ari Nielsen, David Sheff and Stephen Blanche who have done a superb job on bringing out the character of these different Sci-Fi doggos. I think the sculpts are incredible and really match up with the different breeds of dog and how they might turn out should they be turned into Sci-Fi heroes!

Lone Wolf - Crooked Dice

Lone Wolf // Crooked Dice

You could definitely run a full crew using these different Homo Canid. I think you've got enough figures here to represent your captain as well as his or her second and the rest of the starship crew.  For example, Junkpuncher (below) looks like he could well be the ex-soldier who has joined the crew to put his skills to good use. I hope that he punches a lot of people in the junk.

Gun Dog could then be his more serious companion who followed him out of the military. He seems like he could be a head of security, locking down a zone to make sure that the rest of the crew can do their jobs. Maybe they could be sent out routinely to "fetch" loot from derelict starships?

Gun Dog - Crooked Dice

Gun Dog // Crooked Dice

I think my favourite miniature from the previews is Lone Wolf, although the Revolutionary is also a very close second. I suppose there's lots of room for Crooked Dice and the team to do all sorts of other dog breeds so you could maybe make two or three crews in the end!

Grounded Pilot - Crooked Dice

Grounded Pilot // Crooked Dice

The miniatures above were painted by Matthew Leahy, who has done an absolutely superb job on this collection. I can't wait until they're available for folks to pick up and it will be fascinating to see how they mix with the rest of the Colony 87 world.

Jet Bikes!

As well as the miniatures above, we also saw Crooked Dice release a couple of Jet Bikes for Colony 87 and one of them actually comes with a Homo Canid riding on the back!

Jet Bike 2 - Crooked Dice

Jet Bike 2 // Crooked Dice

He is definitely going out on the hunt for someone who stole his favourite gun (toy). An awesome miniature that could be fun to see as a scenario piece in some of your games. Maybe the rest of the crew above needs to find him out in the wasteland somewhere?

You could then end up teaming up to take down this fellow, who might have been his target the whole time? I quite like the idea of them fighting over a claim for a downed and ruined ship somewhere in a desert.

Jet Bike 1 - Crooked Dice

Both of these Jet Bikes were sculpted by David Sheff based on concepts by Will Beck and were then painted for display as you see here by Simon Bradley. It's a really nice range from Crooked Dice for Sci-Fi fans to delve into and it's just growing and growing at the moment.

Will you be jumping into the Colony 87 range and some of these great Homo Canids?
