Ghar Outcasts Begin Their Gates Of Antares Rebellion
April 9, 2019 by brennon
Warlord Games has unleashed a band of Ghar Outcast Rebels for those looking to build up their diminutive Sci-Fi force in Beyond The Gates Of Antares. This squad look pintsized but ready to fight for their freedom.
As you might imagine, these Rebels make do with what little they have. They are using all sorts of scavenged weapons and rely on ambushes and sneaky backstabbing in order to overcome their more well-prepared foes.
The Ghar Outcast Rebels have become a major threat to the Ghar Empire so clearly their scavenging of technology is working. I really like this style of force, having to make do rather than having all of the options available to a regular force.
It's also a force which will find itself featuring plenty of infantry and then a smattering of vehicles so if you like avoiding lots of armour, this might be a good shout.
What do you think of this new squad?

Why do they look to me like a 3rd party Blood Bowl team?! XD
Those are some strange looking fellows but then again I don’t anything about game’s universe so maybe those are rather normal for that setting.
Ghar are “pan-humans” (or genetically engineered humans at some point in the past), who were designed as warriors to pilot the Battle Walkers (again an ancient design by parties unknown), hence their small size. The Ghar race absolutely hate anything not Ghar (or technology Ghar in design).
The “Outcasts” are Ghar who have failed in some way, and are thrown out as cannon fodder in front of the Battle Walkers. Doomed to die, they have no purpose in Ghar Society and are given only the most basic gun and no equipment other than that.
Now “Rebel” Ghar are outcasts who have fled the Ghar Empire, and banded together to provide a better chance of surviving. Now they haven’t fled into the arms of the other races as allies (their genetic profiling still means they hate all races that aren’t Ghar), but have broken the rule on technology and began to scavenge the battlefields for dropped equipment of any origin to adapt and use (thus seen as “heretics” by the Ghar Empire). The “Outcasts” in the rebel armies get better equipment (and at least they get clothing this time), and the Black Guard get to use other races equipment and guns.
Gamewise (this box set) they still are “cannon fodder”, weak in stats, but cheap in point costs. Their lugger guns are very basic but can rapid fire at short range (making ignoring them a risky decision).
But they are Ghar-tastic sculpts, and I’ll be getting more than a few (you have to).
they would be great as wasteland survivors for Dredd, flooded earth, type games.
I love these guys. Love their background and lover the old school characterful miniatures.
Would look great as part of a Scavvie gang or other such mutant underclass for Necromunda. 😉
Lovely sculpts. They definitely scratch that old school sci-fi itch.
