Check Out Knight Models’ Wickedly Wonderful Bellatrix For Harry Potter!
January 13, 2017 by deltagamegirl22
I cannot even begin to describe how excited I am about the Harry Potter Miniatures Game in the works from Knight Models, and today's peek just reinforced this for me. We saw Mad Eye Moody first, and now it's the villain everyone loves to hate, Bellatrix Lestrange.
I think they really nailed this sculpt. She looks wildly, wicked- crazy hair and all. Can you not just hear that evil laugh and her chanting, "I killed Sirius Black! I killed Sirius Black!"?
Will you be getting into the wizarding world of Harry Potter on the tabletop?

Haven’t seen a single Harry Potter movie *jumps behind couch* but the miniature definitely looks wonderful indeed.
Intervention!! We need an intervention!!! 😉
@demonclaw don’t watch the movies read the books, I’ve seen the movies once but have read the books twice. despite the constant barrage of people telling me to read the books I would reply that it won’t touch Tolkien so i’ll stick to rereading the works of the professor.
I was laid up with a broken hand and my sister handed me the books. I read the whole series in two weeks. i was invested in the characters by the end in a way that is difficult to find.
the sculpt is lovely if that’s the right word for the mad witch.
I was hoping for a narrative board game when I first heard about the game but In all likelihood were going to get a skirmish game, I am quickly warming to the idea now though.
I think we will see something similar to their dc marvel game with some polish from their experience with the former. the super powers are not so different from the magic of potter and should translate well. I think what we will be getting about to get some of the best wizard duels the table top has seen. probably more balanced than the narrative style of the excellent frost grave.
spells ,counter spells, objectives and scenarios all set to the theme.
i’ll certainly be jumping on with no massive kickstarter to worry about and more than likely only a rulebook and a handful of miniatures needed to get involved.
there is still a chance they may give us something narrative and as I’ve said in the past its the only way to catch the potter vibe completely.
along with STAR WARS and Tolkien Harry Potter is probably the only other big IP that makes my ears prick up. but knight are going to have to score none the less as only the RPG’s of STAR WARS and Tolkien are in my top tier right now. these IP’s have some very good games outside of this but the competition from other systems for my time and money is fierce.
I’m with Dawn though and i’m super excited for Harry Potter.
I’ll admit I enjoyed Harry Potter somewhat when I first read it but the more I looked at the more the glaring issues with the plot and characters emerged. I always much preferred Pratchett, especially since he actually knew he was writing Fantasy unlike JKR who vehemently denied doing so.
just noticed her wand arm seems to have an extra joint, it must be an optical illusion from an odd angle. maybe i’m looking at it wrong, is anybody else seeing that.
Now you point it out, it is odd, but I think it’s just the photo – I reckon when painted you’ll be able to see the definition better.
It still looks to me like she has a tentacle arm holding the wand.. but it is a sculpt that captures HBC’s portrayal of the character.
No, she’s holding the bottom of the wand, it’s the wand that’s curved. Pretty sure that’s her hand /fingers at the bottom
I see what you mean. I think it’s an illusion, as you say @emptynessisform .
That looks really nice.
a great figure I think its the strange shape of the wand & the picture angle that makes the arm look weird?
We’ll see about the game but I’d love to paint the minis so far. If the game is any good, I might even get my daughter to play. Fingers crossed. 🙂
Like @emptynessisform I was a very late convert to Harry Potter, saying for years that I wasn’t interested in something so cliched. Finally, a friend of a friend did an ‘exchange’ of book recommendations and I gave the first book another go. And I had to admit that the books really were great.
I thought the films were all disappointingly average, but these models… Wow! Hard to see this game being anything but a hit with such stunning sculpts.
I wonder if it will really take off and will draw new blood into the gaming hobby in the way that, say, Lord of the Rings did?
That’s what I’m hoping. I think such a recognizable and beloved IP may be just the nudge some folks need to make the leap. 😀
