Games Workshop previewed more for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy over the course of the AdeptiCon show this week. We start with the reveal that got everyone excited, the new plastic Charonite Ogryn Section.

These cybernetically enhanced and biochemically altered killing machines have been designed to battle the Space Marines the Solar Auxilia will face on the battlefield. The regular humans of the Solar Auxilia are good soldiers but even they can't go toe to toe with a Space Marine. That's where the Ogryns come in.

They have been squeezed into these armoured void suits and pumped full of combat stimulants. The ends of their arms have then been implanted with a mix of claws, blades, shredders and crushers, which are all going to be great when utterly evicerating your enemies.

I like the fully helmeted versions of the Ogryns but there's also something fun about those cheesy grins.

Solar Auxilia Weapon Batteries

As well as the Ogryns, you can also get some new plastic Weapon Batteries for the Solar Auxilia. The first of these is the Rapier Fire Support Battery.

This tracked and armoured weapon battery has been designed to fight on the front lines but also as part of boarding actions on ships in deep space. You can arm it with the quad launchers known as "thudd guns", which fire frag shells into the heart of the enemy.

You can also choose the quirky mole mortar, which sends burrowing shells underground before they explode underneath the enemy in a shower of mud, blood and body bits.

If you'd prefer to be more direct, you can also choose the Rapier Direct Fire Battery.

This doesn't bother with ordnance but instead can choose between the gravis heavy bolter battery but also the gravis multi-laser array. These are going to be good at mowing down lightly-armoured enemies on the battlefield. There is also the option for the laser destroyer if you want to put a hole in something armoured.

Spartan Prometheus Assault Tank

Last but not least, we also have the Spartan Prometheus Assault Tank.

Want to get into the heart of the enemy formation without getting shot? Check out the Spartan Prometheus Assault Tank, which can carry entire squads of Space Marines and Terminators into battle, for both the Loyalists and the Traitors.

It trades in the lascannon array for the gravis heavy bolters, which can mow down incoming infantry. You can also opt for laser destroyers which could give you a bit of tank-busting power. Either way, this is going to be a key transport option for a lot of Horus Heresy-era armies.

Will you be picking up some of these Horus Heresy-era miniatures?
