For my first project on BoW, I decided to build and paint two orc watchtowers. It should be fairly simple, except I don’t really have a plan. Normally, I like to plan what I’m building first, but in this case, I’m not really sure what I’m shooting for. I’m just going to stack wooden planks and spikes until it looks good 🙂

I don’t want the towers to be too big or too high. They will be used for skirmish games like Mordheim, so it is never convenient when it takes more than a turn to climb.

I have plenty of popsicle sticks, BBQ sticks and a surprisingly large amount of wooden chopsticks from the sushi shop.

Chopsticks :) Chopsticks :)

For the support beams, I used some wooden dowels. I bought them a long time ago to make underground pillars, but I ended using XPS foam instead.

The only issue with the dowels is that they are too strong and I could not carve them properly with an x-acto knife. I finally used a small jig saw to carve them.

I cut some cardboards to determine the size of the top platform. This is a very quick way to determine if the building size is okay or not. I made the mistake before of crafting buildings that were way too big.

There will not be enough space to deploy a full unit, but a few models will fit there nicely.

Some orcs and a goblin to make it look better, but also to make sure the size was okay. Some orcs and a goblin to make it look better, but also to make sure the size was okay.
