When starting a game, I always think the best place to start is the setting and general feel for the game.

I have a love for both Fantasy and Sci-Fi settings but to be honest if I had to choose I would lean more towards a science fiction setting but with that in mind, the first question would be, what kind of Sci-Fi setting.

Science Fiction is a varied subject with lots of scope for different settings, but since these posts have a voting system with three options I figured it would be best to limit the choices to three and use the recommendations to vote and decide where to go next, so out of the following which would you choose?

Hard Sci-Fi – Science fiction based on hard science and reality, examples of this kind of setting would be things like The Expanse, Gundam or other mech suit based ideas, Blade Runner, Cyberpunk, Dieselpunk etc… (vote Tutoring)

Sci-Fi Fantasy – Science fiction with elements of the fantastical or mystical mixed in, this could be things like Warhammer 40k, Star Wars, Doom, Steampunk, Dune, Marvel etc… (vote Skill)

Alternative Reality/History – A modern/current setting or an event in the past where events have happened differently, examples of this could be things like Dust 1947, Wolfenstein, Scythe etc… (Vote Idea and please leave a comment as to explain what kind of event/history etc…)

I was going to say Hard Scifi in a cyberpunk style but whilst talking about it on the hobby hangout I decided to swing to alternate reality and want to suggest 1985 ghostbusters, 🙂

Regardless, now that people know you’re out there I hope we’ll be able to whip this community into shape and get them suggesting ideas.
