This is my step by step journey in the napoleonic  gothic horror game “The Silver Bayonet” by Osprey Games. This came recently caught my attention since it had a fresh and unique setting, part historical, part fantasy/horror which is a welcome alternation to all the pending projects on my pile of opportunities…

I recently grabbed a Preorder on northstarfigures.com that came with Wave 1 and 2 (6 hunter factions in total) as well as a special limited edition adventurer/investigator. I took a while but the minis made it through customs to the mainland of europe and I could start the project.

First things first:

While giving the metal miniatures a nice soapy bubble bath, a scrub and a rinse with tap water I thought about the way I wanted to base the minis.

Usually I use the bases that come with the miniatures but as the minis from Northstarfigures come without bases I had to decide which bases to use.

Recently I did a lot of hobbying in the Bolt Action universe and really came to like the flat bases as the minis tend to better blend in between the terrain pieces and don’t knock their head on the door frame as they would standing on a higher base.

Since the minis for Silver Bayonet not only have a historical character hence the setting but also have in my opinion a retro charme to them the way they are sculpted I decided to give them old school 25mm angled hollow round bases.

On thingiverse I found perfect fitting bases as they are a little lower as the slotta bases we all know which is a reasonable compromise.

Here’s the link to the bases:
