This was not the project I thought I was going to be working on this month. Since July I’ve been planning my Orctober project but September was a rough month. A friend passed away and I’ve been struggling to just make it through the day. I also woke up on Friday, the day of the funeral with a cold. I just want to curl up and forget the world exists but that’s the invitation to let the old black dog make itself comfortable. The idea of joyously attacking a problem solving heavy creative project just isn’t going to work right now but I need a project that is easier to do, easier to paint but will give results to satisfy the brain goblins with a wee boost of serotonin.

Months ago a friend of mine gave me a big Ikea bag filled with old 40k terrain he was clearing out. He does this every so often and he knows I’m a cheapskate who will take anything free. It has been laying awkwardly in the corner of my living room since because I couldn’t find somewhere useful to put it.

While being a couch slug yesterday, I saw this video from the Esoteric Order of Gamers about his terrain collection. I don’t know why but it has inspired me to get my thumb out my arse and have boxes of finished, usable terrain. So in a fit of energy at far too late last night, I dragged the Ikea bag onto the table and started to put everything into order. Then I grabbed more of the unfinished fantasy and sci fi terrain that came to hand. There’s more of it but this is already more than enough for now.

Sorry to hear of the rough times, but it is good to hear that you have remembered to keep busy no matter how big or small the task you set your mind to is.
