About the Project
This project started about 2013 with this: https://www.beastsofwar.com/historical-battles/goood-morning-nam-week/ In this year our gaming club was big in FoW: WWII. And we heard that Battlefront would start a vietnam range. We looked in our eyes and said: We will do this all together. So around 6 gamers picked an army. For me this was the PAVN. We had about two NLF, one ARVN, one Aussis and we had one US Army. I was slowly working through my first packs. About a year of really nice games and campaigns, we thought about going to the Hamburger Tactica (biggest historical tabletop convention in germany) with Flames of War: Vietnam. And we choosed the Battle of Ia Drang (anyone remember the movie "We were Heros") https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Ia_Drang Bothi did a really nice table (which i will show later) and the scenario and i did painting PAVN like a beast ;)(i like deadlines). Finished all miniatures just in time. Pictures for this will follow too. Since then, i bought some NLF, a mobile cavalary, airmobile and a brown water navy. So much unpainted minis. And why this now? Some of you may heard that in february the new book Nam came out (mostly based on Team Yankee and full of fault, sorry i have to say). We still have to test this. But we are not unafraid to change this we don't like. And then there was this article series from Oriskany: https://www.beastsofwar.com/flames-of-war/50th-anniversary-tet-offensive-part-one/ So i hope you will enjoy this project in the upcoming months. Upcoming NLF (National Liberation Front) local forces company aka Charlie
So in july i planing my participation on the “malathon 2018” hard to translate. Actually it means “Mal Marathon” or in english paint marathon. So that is 42 miniatures in 31 days.
For me i will take on the (National Liberation Front) local forces company aka Charlie. Or better companies. because these are 2 companies with 6 platoons, with 2 LMG-teams and 2 light mortar teams + command teams. And to get the 42 i add the HQ teams and one platoon of medium mortars.
In the background you can see some more platoons. A MMG platoon, a recoiless gun platoon, 3 bunker, a AA-MG platoon and “civilians”. But these additional miniatures can be done later than july.
So expect some more pics on my progress.
Ironclad battalion 1st part
2nd try. BoW ate my first post. Well this is my last part in where do i stand. Next some battlereps and what paintings to come.
Here we have 10x K-2 T-54:
5x K-1 T34/85M:
Special task force or sapper company
These miniatures are from Flashpoint Miniature and wear equipment for crossing minefields and barbed wire.
6 infantry platoons forming 3 companies (blue, red and green)
Left are the platoons markings, right the weapons. Yellow are the B41 teams, Yellow with red stripe are the B40 teams, red are the LMG teams and unmarked are the AK-47 teams.
So blue and unmarked means: blue platoon and AK-47-Team or red and red means red platoon and LMG-team.
Identify the teams just by weapons on the base is too hard in game. Same goes for weapons platoons and support platoon. This colour code makes it much easier to game with them.
