Rules
This is my first jump into WW2. I was inspired by a magazine article that adapted the modern Black ops rules to an SAS raid in North Africa. The scenarios are split into three missions which include observing a base before breaking in and blowing up key positions. I’ve wanted to do this for some time but it wasnt until sarissa released their army camp set that I thought it was time to have a go. The scenery I need depends on the scenario maps from the article.
Putting together the scenery
I picked up Sarissas fence kit along with a watch tower, wash house and barracks. I already have a few bits and bobs to add but have got to work putting my German airbase together. This isn’t really my period so I might make a few mistakes on the details.
Building The Camp
I have put together the fences and a watchtower and painted them up. The fence I have found difficult because yo have to add your own wire. Printed acetate sheets are recommended but Ill use wire. It’s a bit thick but I’ll see how it goes. I’ve laid out the scenry so far. Still have a washouse barracks and fuel dump to add.
Air Base Sign
The camp gate gave me a problem as it comes with a sign. Not knowing German I have no idea if what I have here makes sense. If anyone wants to correct me please do. Still have an issue with the fence as my wires too thick but I dont think it matters.

Barbed Wire Done
I found a solution to my camps fencing. In the back of a bits draw was a coil of barbed wire I got from GW years ago and forgot about it. I snipped it into lengths and had just enough to have three lengths for each fence piece. Not enough to keep anyone out but it does the trick I think.
Sandbag emplacements
I got inspired by the city build for the hobby weekend after seeing the sandbags being made with some clay so I got to work on my own. They turned out a bit large but I think they work out all right. Have to paint them up next.
Character templates
I thought it would be good to do some character sheets for my SAS squad members and give them a bit of personality. My players can now pick who they want to choose for the mission. In the game they are activated by cards so I got some 1940s pin up cards to add a bit more period flavor to the game.
The Game
Finally played our two linked scenarios where our SAS team sneak into the German camp. This involved cutting a hole in the fence and creeping around some obstacles and disposing of one soldier who got in the way. Mission two had the team sabotaging some key locations before killing every German on the board with the loss of just one chap before retreating back into the desert. I was so caught up in the game I forgot to take many photos. I figured out the best way to play the camp guards to late to have any impact on stopping the British. Might try a similar game using different teams such as Dutchs crew from Predator or the A team. but it’s been a fun introduction to WW2 for me.
