About the Project
Ack-ack-ack-ack! A long time ago, I started painting these Mantic miniatures from the base boxset of Mars Attacks, the miniatures game. As it so often happens to my projects, as soon as I was done with the main caharacters, it got sidetracked by many, many, many other shiny things that arrived in the mail and its been a while since I actually did any work on this. I will use this project as a showcase of the miniatures, but also as (probably seldom updated) blog of the slow progress I eventually accomplish.

"Linda"
I managed to dig a box of the expansion Humanity Resists. Its an interesting box with pretty decent models, including a truck and a flying saucer.
This expansion introduces a special corps, called the Vira Militia. They are unnamed I think,
I dont have the rulebook around to check the actual name, so I’ll just call this one “Linda” for now.
Troy
Troy is one of my favorite minis in the box. I pretty much just copied the boxart the best I could.
Can’t remember exactly where this idea came from, but for the base I added some spilled Pepsi and popcorn. Considering the scale, I guess its more like chicken wings or something. If you look carefully, there are also two movie ticket stubs for It Came From Outer Space.
Eva
Pretty cool mini, this one.
Went for a blue uniform and added some extra details to the base, papers and some shotgun shells done with tiny wire bits.
Sir Edwyn of Hoo
Another mini that I really like. Went for some Non Metallic Metal wich came out pretty good, I think. There’s also a slight blue OSL from the sword.
For the base I added a bit of sidewalk with a sewer thing with moss. The grate is just painted on. Not sure why, just thought it needed something.
Phil
Phil I’m not happy with at all. Candidate number one for a repaint.
Brandi
I kind of like this sculpt but, like some others on this set, the details on the face got lost during the production.
The boxart suggests more of a purple for the clothes, but I decided for a pinkish tone, wich ties a bit to Buddy’s shirt. Star-crossed lovers, and all…
Definetelly nothing to do with having the paint right there, already on the palette.
Buddy
Buddi is a fantastic mini. Nice details, nice pose, full of character. I love it!
Pretty much just copied the boxart the best I could. The details of the inner shirt and shirt were a bit of a challenge.
Pretty basic base (no pun intended). Just quickly made a Greenstuff ball, and painted it like a baseball ball.
Ashley
Ashley was an opportunity to try some textures. Instead of the black leather I decided on trying something like an aviator brown worn leather jacket, with a bit of white fur on the collar.
