Test piece
I picked up the Vallejo Air Metallics set to add to my Vallejo Special Effects set, bust out the airbrush and went at it.
The aim here is a simple punchy paint scheme that looks effective but won’t take me months to get done. I am experimenting with chipping medium to deliver the illusion of detail and effort while learning to use my airbrush for more than just priming. By liberally spraying areas in other colours. Baby steps!
Step 2, airbrushing with the other 'Rust' that comes in the same set but has a different catalogue number - because that isn't at all confusing.
Going to the Vallejo special effects set, another two rusty effect paints were applied watered down a bit by brush. I then covered this in chipping medium through the airbrush.
I forgot to take a picture of the bottles here, but I applied chipping medium through the airbush then applied the basecoat of Medium Gunship Grey. I wasn't worried about 100% coverage because I want this is to look weathered and beat up at the end.Building a Deadzone table
It has been on the cards for awhile now to build a Deadzone using Mantic’s kits, and awhile back I laid hands on two starter sets. I have been using Battlesystem’s card terrain from my Core Space sets but as my club are putting on a Deadzone tournament in August I now have a more pressing need to get more terrain built!
Thankfully, I invested in an airbrush for Christmas and fully plan on using it heavily for this!
Project complete! (For now...)
And with that, I have a fully painted Star Saga set and have cleared my Deadzone backlog!
I do intend to add more, of course, but I get to finish the year with this off my to do list.
Star Saga crates and stasis pods
The final pieces! Star Saga crates and stasis pods are tabletop ready and with that I have a full set!
Star Saga tables & cabinets
Continuing the theme of ‘bang them out fast and get it done’ we have the tables and cabinets finished.
Just a couple of mysterious laboratory tanks and half a dozen crates to go!
Star Saga Doors
Doors! You won’t get anywhere without doors! Truly a vital element of any dungeon crawler, the ability to get between rooms!
Computer consoles and gun racks
Keeping them simple and quick, the computer consoles and gun racks are done!
Alyse
The last hero/mercenary is done, so here we have Alyse.
Next up I crank through the Star Saga scenery pieces as quickly as possible to get the game out of my to do pile!
