Wild West Exodus Week: The Union Faction Guide
October 6, 2017 by dignity
Welcome to the Union in this Wild West Exodus Week here on Beasts of War.
While most factions in the game have some suspicious characters and ramshackle tactics, the Union are an unstoppable force of discipline and order, they have excellent control and excellent training with the best kind of armoury available in the land.

What's your favourite Faction in Wild West Exodus?

Looking forward to watching this after work 😀 .
Quite different to the other factions, could be rather interesting on the table.
You need these guys because they are the background to the setting, but they’re not very interesting so far
Am I the only that thinks Union Belle is Wonderwoman?
But there’s a ginger and blonde version as well.
I think she’s closer to Captain America in her role. Rather than a warrior princess from a magical land. 🙂
Actually I think she’s a mix of both. Her role is Captain America’s, but her appearance is quite a bit like Wonder Woman, most notably the vambraces.
So a “Captain Woman” or “Wonder America” then …….. 😀 ….*going back to my box … sorry
I’m with Justin on this one, it’s the Union for me. Now just got to wait till the restock.
I know, it’s killing me I can’t really begin the transition into 2nd ed yet.
Have to say untill now i would not have choose union as my faction but after watching this its tempting. 🙂
The fluff is very interesting however, it is unclear how this faction plays different. Also, would have loved to have seen the figures instead of the just the images.
My 1st choice for a faction.
Great Video!
Not the faction for me, but interesting backstory.
Snowmobile with gatlin guns, take my money.
Jet bikes with gatling guns!! The skids are just for landing and take off. XD
Are there plans to add artillery/mortars?
Abe Lincoln is awesome!
Nice faction…Like the structurenof the army!…but would choose something else as it reminds me of the armies I know from other tabletop games with a strict force organisation chart…
Would love to see Custer of the Union take on the Wild Warrior Nation Indians…that would look awesome!
It’s been a massive bonus in some of the videos, to actually see some of the models painted up. It’s a bit of a shame that when you look to buy the stuff, most of the time you can only see renders, because I don’t think they do the models justice.
(I have the same issue with Wyrd’s stuff).
boys in blue.. almost like Ultramarines 🙂
nah its got to be weird and gribbly all the way
Interesting… this could be a fun army to play. I do like the iron horses.
I agree with what just is saying with the big ranked up forces but that also a down side for me. I think Im to attracted to the forces with more faces as it feels more narrative rather than alot of ‘red shirts’. I do like the union I though and I think Ill have to pick up a couple of the characters to paint even if I dont go with them as a faction.
Food for thought…..
Tesla! You got the right idea Justin
This is the one I always wanted to play.
I quite liked the Outlaws. I really liked the Hex. I LOVE these. Already thinking of a Custer’s (not) Last Stand posse.
Agree that Willa Shaw is a top model in this range.
Tesla’s theme force sounds really interesting and fun. And I’m digging his artwork!
Looking forward to bolstering my union force’s!
The Union are my biggest army (in terms of character spread, anyway. The number of Hired Hands I have for the Golden Army definitely make them the biggest in actual size!) and the one I have the most (only!) experience of actually playing on the tabletop. 1.0 Grant was a monster, and him and Captain Sheridan made even the lowly Hands something to be feared!
Tesla in particular is a cool idea, love Grant as well but I dont feel this is the faction for me personally
I was expecting to dislike the Union with all of their domineering order, but it turns out that is just Grant. Tesla and a force of robots, or Willa Shaw and formations of iron horses, or even the grand “feed the cannons ’til they choke on bodies” style of Custer sounds like @dignity ‘s good time in a can.
where is Abe? oh well. still good models
I think, of all the factions so far, this is the one I found the least interesting…and I still want it! 🙂
These look kinda cool. Union Belle made me laugh.
Sounds interesting…would like to see the difference between those chain-actions and the union version of it on the table.
The Union don’t speak to me in the same way as some of the others but they do sound like a great faction – one I’ll look forward to playing against. And maybe one I’ll pick up a posse for down the line. Tesla looks epic!
It Look like some great new stuff for the Union and nice looking new mini
I like the look of the characters, but I’m not sure if I would want to play a troop-based force in this game.
Tesla reminds me of Nemo from Warmachine.
Tesla …… always a nice guy …….. and he didn’t electrocute elephants (unlike others 🙁 ) Another nice faction
Hmm, I’m gonna go confederates. I guess I should say boo? (probably gonna pick up a Union force at some pint though, I’m addicted to shinys)
So when do we see the WWX ” Let’s Play ” Tesla robot posse versus Mech Morgan robot posse ?
Union wise, i’m thinking a Custer posse, plenty of Riflemen and Skirmishers with the odd Face for good measure, with a couple of Iron Horses for a speedy response.
would love some Wild west models
The models look great!
my wife loves this faction, good job guys!
That Tesla stuff looks cool.
Union was my first faction in the 1st edition and slowly changed to Warrior Nation. Will have to see if I still like the Union when the rules come out. Although the Tesla themed force sounds amazing as does Willa Shaw’s force
more interesting than I thought they would be.
Loving the concept art, but I wish they had some of the models ready to see. Can’t wait…
fun stuff 🙂
Sorely tempted by these guys too. Such a great looking game.
The union are okay, but I prefer some of the other factions better.
Now have two favourites Union and Lawmen, so might have to make a hard decision here. Not sure why I like the Union as it seems a standard type of army but it just sounds good.
Tesla’ forces of tesla bits sound interesting!! Can’t wait to see the models for them!
Really like the idea of Willa Shaw and a force that is all on iron horses! That would look awsome on the table!!
I really kind of dismissed the Union at first but after this they are growing on me.
Least favourite faction so far
My plan is to put Outlaw Rebs against a Union Force. Jackson vs Grant.
I thought the Enlightened were the faction for me but now I’m not so certain. The Union definitely sound interesting as well.
This was a cool faction
never played this game or collected the models but it looks very good. Have to say, after checking out all the factions so far i’m really drawn to the warriors nation.
Not the faction for me, but some interesting models that I may need to get 🙂
So yeah Tesla’s fluff sounds amazing
This faction totally rox!
I will be picking up this Starter set. Five factions should do it, right?
Yet another great factions. With character with backstory.
That”s what I like.
Now wich faction to choose.
You are making it hard Justin (and the War Cradle boys ofcourse 😉
Great models.
This is one cool faction!
The Union is a nice idea
being in the Union is tempting 🙂
This wild west looks so good!
As someone who backed the original version of kickstarter for the game (even had my name printed in the hardback rulebook as one of the individuals who was thanked for bringing the game into existance), it’s been interesting to see the direction warcradle has taken with the game world & game system. I myself have a rather sizable union force with grant as my selected boss in addition to some of the vehicles that compliment them (iron horses, the rolling thunder tank & the vehicles now known as iron eagles (locusts being the name previously on their stat card).
One thing I’ve yet to find via my lurking searches has been a visual representation showing how the weapon options on the union iron horses should be converted to those that can be taken on the second edition variants (aside from the gatling guns, the first edition variants have mini-cannons & rocket pods but I’m not certain how they are visually extrapolated in the second edition as the flamethrowers, grenade launchers & electrocarbines. Do the sculpts that used to represent the mini-cannons now represent the grenade launchers? Do the rocket pod weapon sculpts now represent the flamethrowers or the electrocarbines? Is it the other way around, is it none of the above? Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.
Really ironic custer is so lucky considering historical events. Aside from that sound like an interesting force to match up against.
anyone tried a different colour scheme yet?
This is great 🙂
This was exciting!
I wonder how good this game is
I love Wild West Exodus!
Looks like an epic faction
oh why oh why are there sooo many good factions in this!!!
